Some of friends went for the movie and found amir khan to be bad in the movie, and the story to be underwhelming and too long.

boycott campaign for Aamir is real. My family who loved Aamir and watched every movie of his in the theater have refused to go for LSC because they have been brainwashed by boycott campaign. My dad has been sharing hundreds of whatsapp fwds about Aamir saying he is anti-national, anti-Hindu etc.

My family cannot be the only one who received these messages. It’s being shared all over.

Ofcourse the movie itself was not appealing. So it would have been a disaster anyway. But it has made a dent - not only to the movie but also the rep of Aamir has been destroyed.

I have always said this, aamir makes the most preachy movies and draggy movies.

Bhaashan dena hai bas.

Only Lagaan I liked in the last 20 years.

Otherwise either he has interfered too much in the script or made it very preachy

People in my family usually clear all the shitty forwards but still if the movie was good would these boycotts really work! If aamir had delivered a dangal it would have not flopped. He had an inflated stardom that is why a movie like dhoom 3 was hit and why TOH inspite of being shit had an 50 crore opening day.

And aren't most movies flopping left and right, even rakshabandhan, which is based on an hindu festival or shamshera which had nothing to do with religion.

the product is subpar that is why it is people are rejecting it. Does this movie really deserve a 50 crore opening!

Why cannot they reduce the budget and make films tailoring to the audiences.

So true..

This is what BW is not realizing..By crying wolf so many times they r alienating the genuine fans who love movies. How much pointless blame will the audience take..at some point they will give up and do exactly what they r being wrongly blamed for.

All of us came here for the love of BW..and we r still here coz the fan in us is still alive. For how long? Don't know..

Even if industry people go through IF threads they would know what's bringing them down

I think mods had warned against dragging religion. Why posts unrelated to LSC or its theme?

Anyway I liked bond between Rupa and Lal and their being so protective towards each other. Lal beating up anyone who manhandles Rupa is a good stance against domestic violence and he never forgets those who helped him when no one else did just as he never forgot Bala and Mohammad.

Lal accepting Rupa without bothering about her past and taking care of her when she slept all depressed in his house or cooking for her was progressive take for an Indian film. His feeling guilty at making Rupa an unwed mother was adorable. Rupa had to console him that he did nothing wrong and what happened was consensual.

This was really true love. Tu meri Rupa hai...was emotional and Rupa keeps asking Lal why he is so good to her.

If Kareena was not so over exposed in media and online, then she would be noticed more for her performances and characters. Rupa is not an ideal character. She has her flaws. It is a risky character for a mainstream actress.

It is rather sweet how memory of Lal stops her from committing suicide.

Their bond is pure love.

you are being a class A hypocrite. When somebody posts lies about india turning into pakistan you like that post. Then mods' warnings do not affect you.But when lies are busted you remember all the warnings.

My Review of Laal Singh Chadda;

Laal Singh Chadda has its heart at the right place, it is just not interesting or gripping enough.

There is a severe lack of consistency, the pace is awfully slow. You will feel the emotions in bits and parts but it does not engage you fully ever.

Unlike 3 idiots or dangal where you literally feel a part of that world, this has a scene where you are able to invest yourself followed by another where you feel as if you are watching a different movie.

Such inconsistency, so much is happening but nothing syncs ever and that is the essence of a well made movie, it flows organically, it syncs well..here it is so scattered that it seems scenes are inserted one after another but where is it leading to?..is it a series on Netflix you binge watch on a lazy day..coz movies need to have that pace and grip and consistency which is all lacking here majorly..

I am so so disappointed because this had the skill to make me cry, to make me feel a part of laal's world but it just does not..

A more competent direction/editing would have done wonders, that is what killed the movie and made it a series on Netflix instead.

However, performances wise I am not disappointed at all. Everyone has performed beautifully..everyone. Aamir is pretty good, I do not have any complaints..for me he lived laal..i found him pretty good. However he is not the best performer here and that tag undoubtedly goes to Mona Singh. Mona is so so effortlessly amazing in her role that I have no words..she nailed the mannerisms, emotions, accent, dialogue delivery. She was top notch. Superb performance. Kareena is so so so good..My God! This woman has something so magnetic on screen, she just shines, literally, in every frame. I will be honest..initially i could not warm up to Rupa or kareena playing her for that matter because of all the vfx etc..but as time started going by and she had less of that vfx which she did in the initial scenes..man she grows on you with every scene and post interval kareena is the best thing about the movie..she was just brilliant.

Overall..some moments from Laal really touched me (mostly with kareena) but it had so much potential all gone wrong..I wish they could have done justice to it..this movie is let down by its execution terribly..it could have emerged a much better movie..it had all the potential..

2.5 stars

Watch it for Kareena & Mona..the girls shone the brightest

5 days later and I am still wondering how Laal was running for 6 months when I can't even run for 6 minutes.

I tried to run while playing this song, but it didn't even last until the completion of the song😆

Great review! If the movie focuses more on Kareena and Mona and less on Laal in certain instances I definitely think it would have been more engaging. Rupa's evolution in the movie was so gripping but I wish I saw her more.
