Raksha Bandhan also saw a huge drop in collections as it collected in the 1.65 crore nett range. The drop may not be as big as Laal Singh Chaddha but that hardly matters as the drop itself is huge at around 80% from the opening day..

The collections of the film are just 35 crore nett in six days and the week will probably end at around 40 crore nett. If we take out Punjab and South the film is doing better than Laal Singh Chaddha bow but that is more down to fact that Laal Singh Chaddha is so low rather than anything to with Raksha Bandhan.

The audience is not just interested in this genre at the moment as it can easily consumed at home on television and it will need a very good film in this genre to make it work in theatres and the very good films are very rare. The six day collections of Raksha Bandhan are as follows.

Thursday - 8,00,00,000 apprx

Friday - 6,25,00,000 apprx

Saturday - 5,75,00,000 apprx

Sunday - 7,25,00,000 apprx

Monday - 6,25,00,000 apprx

Tuesday - 1,65,00,000 apprx

TOTAL - 35,15,00,000 apprx

SPOILER ALERT

I have seen the film and it is not against any religion at all. Lal has grown up in militancy infested Punjab, see Op Bluestar and barely escaped mobs in Nov 1984 pogrom when his mom cut his hair to save his life and he also saw driver of his auto being burnt alive by mob. His mom tells him to stay inside his room or hide because there is 'malaria' outside whenever there is any riot outside such as 1984 or 1992 and does not want to discuss details of religious strife to him. So when she cannot discuss religious politics with him, she simply tells him 'bahar ni jana bahar malaria hai'.

This is why the man begins to think it is malaria.

It is not promoting atheism or mocking any religion nor it names any religion. Lal simply repeats idea his mom instilled in him to keep him safe and sheltered from communal violence as a kid and teen.

The Pakistani terrorist also goes back to Pakistan saying there is same malaria in his country also and it is being used to radicalise youth. This dialogue comes after he sees news on 26/11 and young Kasab and feels shocked why such a young guy became terrorist and feels the need to stop radicalism in his own country also. He also mocks a maulvi's preaching on hoors and virgins one gets in jannat and switches off TV and jokes to Lal how these preachers brainwash young men like he was at some point of time.

If you have NOT seen the film or seen the context then please keep quiet and stop making allegations or foisting agenda on the film.

If Lal was an atheist he would not get married to Rupa in Anand karaj but go for court marriage.

Anyway even if a film is about atheism it is NOTHING wrong and we have FoE to have atheist characters or dialogues too.

It is nothing to whine about.

It is not religions they spoke against but misuse of religion to radicalise youth and cause militancy and riots. Do not start crying 'hurt sentiments' or so called insult to religion without seeing context or film.

I read about the context in the movie..

M talking about the script writer who could've worded the dialogue better or the listeners on set who could've seen what was coming.

Regarding rest of the text in ur msg...couldnt read it completely coz I try n avoid negative vibes specially in the mornings 😊 pls carry on.

Have a nice day

Funny how bhakts hate Pakistan but are turning India into a hindu version of it. I guess religious extremism is fine as long as its the "right" kind

Well someone here posted their review and said that it would've flopped even otherwise and its not bcoz of the boycott

then as per this logic Akshay’s movies should be blockbusters. And yet he has 4 back to back flops.

Social media boycott won’t affect a movie this much unless audience actually didn’t like the movie.

My opinion :

1)There are more than 1 concrete reason why this movie flopped.

2)The movie is simply not good. The taste of the movie audience has changed. RRR, KGF2 and Vikram (while it bombed in north, it collected lots of $$$ in the southern states) showed that audience go to theatre to experience an event. Does a remake of forest gump qualify as an event ? The fact that the original movie (made almost 30 yrs ago) is still better than this remake compounds this.

3)How many times can AK play the same role of looking "innocent", staring at people with wide eyes and get away with it ? PK, Dhoom 3, 3 idiots...are some of the movies that spring to mind

4)Boycott - Yes, this played a part too. It started with SSR and is continuing with kashmir files. Nepotism is rampant throughout india (especially in sports, politics and movies). The normal movie goers are already pissed off with nepostism. When you add that with subtle digs at a religion and guess what happens, people will say enough is enough and they will stop going to movies. I hope the bollywood elites understand how much effort it takes to go to a movie nowadays.

There are more reason, but these are the big ones.

I am sorry but people who think it flopped due to boycott campaign don't even know the ground reality and i am pretty sure they don't even live in india. Boycott trends are bakwas, people have started to realise that they can use their hard-earned money in better ways instead of wasting on these millionaires who just churn out subpar products.

Some of friends went for the movie and found amir khan to be bad in the movie, and the story to be underwhelming and too long.

Yes and they're very desperate to portray India and Indians just like them...

Can't do anything about their country but they want to say you people are equally bad or worse or it's not us' it's you

True, but they are instead blaming audiences for rejecting their subpar products and upsetting neutral viewers as well .
