In Mahābhārata, Abhimanyu is the incarnation of Soma's son Varcas, also called Suvarcas (Ādiparvan 61.86), and when his work is done, he enters into Soma (Svargārohaṇaparvan 5.16-17). This incarnation is in a list of partial incarnations (aṃś'āvatāra), meaning that the deity doesn't cease to exist in divine form. So, the boon wouldn't have been necessary, and I haven't come across it in the text.

I never got the impression that the storytellers thought that Abhimanyu died too young. Several warriors who died in the war would have been around the same age as Abhimanyu: the Draupadeyas, Kṣatradharman, Kṣatradeva, Lakṣmaṇa, Dauḥśāsani, Caitraseni, Vṛṣasena, Suṣeṇa etc. Abhimanyu belonged to the same generation as Dhṛtarāṣṭra's grandsons, who had wives, and Karṇa's sons, who had children.

Abhimanyu being the reincarnation of a demon seems to be a folk/tribal tradition. Click the link for more.

That's from Cāṇakya, isn't it? He lived many centuries after the Mahābhārata story began to circulate. Laws could have changed.

Bhism and drona were always team duryodhan. They were never against him. Only tv series shows that bhism and drona was against him.

I guess BR chopra s mb is responsible to a very large extent for spreading these myths.

I guess we have always underestimated audience's intelligence. In the process of simplification, the very essence is lost🤷🏻‍♀️.

Further we have been incessantly fed with "formula" thereby stereotyping every aspect of our being and the same continues even today 🤦🏻‍♀️.

i totally agree here. There should have been a fight between kaurava and pandava to prove who are best. But by default they wanted to give throne to pandavas. Kaurav bhi kuch kam nahi the direct yuddh karthe but they started doing all planning and plotting.

I feel no one is painted as white or black in original MBH. Everyone has a shade of gray. But I feel what separates Pandvas and Kauravas is Duryodhan trying to burn Pandvas alive (In some versions there is written that Pandavas tricked innocent five sons and their mother to stay with them to show Duryodhan that Pandavas and Kunti are dead after they fleed) and Draupadi Vastraharan. Both these crimes are heinous crimes imo and that's what separates both parties for me.
