A Boy had been caught stealing and had been condemned to be executed. He desired to see his Mother and to speak with her before execution. When his Mother came to him he said: “I want to whisper to you,” and when she brought her ear near, he nearly bit it off. The bystanders were horrified, and asked him what he could mean by such brutal and inhuman conduct. “It is to punish her,” he said. “When I was young I began stealing little things and brought them home to Mother. Instead of punishing me, she laughed and said: “It will not be noticed.” It is because of her I am here today.” - Aesop fables

Watching Malini-Anu scenes today reminded me of this favourite fable which have served to be a constant reminder to me whenever I felt hesitant in disciplining our son during his childhood days, as his pampering father and grandmother couldn't see him crying after that. Many times I had to literally tell them this story and remind them that I do love him as they do; yet at the same time I can't turn a blind eye to his wrongdoings which will bite us back one day. Today as I again I felt bad for Malini, I was imagining if Anu had been a good sensible mother, how beautiful would have been Malini's life? 👍🏼

Today I really could see Malini breaking down from within (like a sense of remorse) for the cruel sister & mom she has become to Imlie & Gudiya respectively. And there beside her, stands her own mother who is celebrating victory....for what? For killing a baby? Seriously!!!. If she was a sensible mother, she would not have used her daughter to compete with Dev on who loves Malini more. Secondly, she wouldn't have used her daughter as a zariya to complete her revenge on Meetti. Instead, the moment she came to know about Aditya's trying to balance two boats, she would have advised her daughter to move on from him, so that her daughter wouldn't have to live the bitter life she lived. And probably could have encouraged Malini to find a partner in KC, if necessary. If not then, atleast after serving the jail term she could have had a realization and try to get proper psychiatric treatment for Malini and bring her in the right path. Instead, she continued fueling her daughter with revenge talks. And she will probably never realise what was her contribution in destroying her daughter's life. Before that, she will loose her daughter But, with the way Mayuri is depicting the hidden pain and disgust Malini's subconscious is feeling about herself, while putting up a revengeful brave front on her face, if not a second chance,I would atleast like to see her realising what a demon she has turned into & regretting for it, before fate gets her punished vigorously. 😔

Isn't dev the real culprit though? He essentially cheated on his wife.

Not excusing Anu, she's a vile women, but the passing of blame from one woman to another is because we don't hold the men accountable rightfully.

am just copying pasting what I wrote yesterday in my thread about malini:

so I watch way too many of these crime patrol type shows and episodes. am forgetting the word they use to describe someone like anu but she is the classic partner/support/co-dependant. anu would never seek help for her daughter because she is indirectly active in the crime herself. she is getting satisfaction of revenge through her daughter's acts and she is also bitter, angry and frustrated. so rather than get her help or try to steer her on the right path, anu would instead be asking if they can escape properly and still execute some revenge. if you see the way anu frames questions to malini, we can see that happening.... mother and daughter feed off each other's negative thoughts and feelings to get the support to be more elaborate in the crimes...

if you notice, that happens often in ITV and in real life as well. I think it is because if the guy has to be held accountable, then he is no longer pati parmvesarshwar. so people shy away from blaming the guy. when you blame the other woman, then it is easier to imagine the guy as a victim who "was seduced by the temptress" type idea. it is easier to keep the husband on the pedestal. another reason I think they don't hold the guy accountable and instead blame the other woman -- they want to hold on to their husband. if they have to hold him accountable, then they have to address the issues in their marriage and whether it can or cannot be fixed. that is something difficult -- people are afraid of conflict.

Oh i totally understand why the characters behave that way, it's the reflection of society.

I was merely pointing out why we (viewers) are letting the man go Scot free. Because it's being depicted as such probably, he's no where to be seen on the screen.

True that.

But also would uncles blame DC? I'm not sure.

I am not bothered about men who are cowards. Isaliye I purposely didn't talk about him. But then, he at least did try to advise Malini not to heed to her mother's instigations. Not that it's enough reason to spare him. But then looking through that perspective, he didn't destroy her life in an active way.

from my experience of interacting with few male viewers on platforms, they are far more logical when it comes to dramas. they don't generally take sides and often have very interesting view on relationships -- stuff that we would never think of.

It's a chain of events sure, but dev has a big role in destroying the life of all 4 women
