Ms marvel is not really for people who ghave crossed teenage. Or even for teenagers tbh. Also south asian dialogues are also very cliched and pathetic i have seen. The villain was worst. The representation of pakistan was correct though.

Ms Marvel's ratings speak for themselves. Dropping costumes into a preteen show doesn't make it a superhero show. And that audience will mostly not watch.

What exactly did they show about the history of partition?

I never understood the hype behind Miss Marvel tbh.

I don't think a Kamala Khan exists ( unless it's a married name, maybe)

Kamala is a Hindu Sanskrit name which means "lotus".

I know the writer wanted to go with alliteration, like Peter Parker, Loki Laufeyson, Steven Strange etc...but it could have been more accurate.

Exactly. They could've given her any N number of Muslim names such as Zeenat, Aisha, Sana etc. Why Kamala?

I haven’t watched it but it was clearly targeted mainly towards the South Asian American community esp the Indians with all the BW references, songs, partition etc which were never even part of the original comics ! They wanted it to be a Black Panther for the desis

Took me a bit to get to it but overall I do like it. I do find Kamala's mom's acting to be quite flat at times. I feel the writing could have been better though

There are multiple reasons that it has the least ratings of all the Marvel shows:

- She's not a well known hero (like Wanda, Vision, Loki, Falcon etc)
- It's a story of a high-schooler. Those stories tend to have younger viewers tuning in rather than all adults

- It's too...."ethnic" and not "American enough" for some Americans (hence it got down-brigaded right at the get-go)

Problem is desi Americans are around 5 million in number 😆. I think Disney thought the Indian subcontinent would like the same things desi Americans do. That 1 plus billion market must look juicy.

So they lost the Indian market and the superhero market.

Black Panther was such a huge success due to African Americans supporting it like crazy . They expected sth like that from Ms Marvel and even Shang Chi.

I just started the show. Will share my thoughts when I am done.

Tbh, I wasn't too enthused about it - but I follow everything MCU. Kate Bishop is also a teenager who doesn't dress and act too sexy or have any kick-ass superhero powers. But Hawkeye was well-received because Clint Barton was already popular and people wanted to see more of him. Even though Bucky and Sam are not Captain Marvel - people knew them from the movies.

The fatal flaw Disney made with this one is that they created a series based on a newer lesser-known comic book character and hoped that audiences invested in the MCU will automatically be interested. But it feels more like an appendage taped onto the MCU than a vital part of it. It is not that audiences do not care for diversity or representation - but they are not going to patronize diversity and representation for the sake of it - it has to provide more incentive beyond that.

As for her name. Here is a thread from the creator of the comic book character.
