Because Disney seems to have forgotten the crucial part in the success of any show - audience. Superhero movies are watched by people who are interested in special effects and OTT action and straightforward storylines. They want macho heroes and kickass heroines who wear sexy bustiers for costumes. Comicbook come to life, in fact.
Ms Marvel is none of the above.
I don't know what Disney's intention was. If they're trying to break into the billion-plus India market, this ain't the right way. A few will watch initially for the curiosity factor. Otherwise, Indian audience has little in common with the Indian-American or Pakistani-American teenager. Disney would've been better off merging a home-grown superhero into the universe.
Its not always straight forward tbh. Moonknight was quite complicated and detailing was insane. For me its the best tv series by marvel as of now

The intention was to set up the next phase of The Marvels. Ms Marvel is based off a 2013 comic that was very successful. It's written by a Pakistani American. MCU is trying to expand and create movies on unexplored characters. There are only so many times you can remake Spider-Man or X men.

Perhaps. But they forgot genre in the middle of all this. Expectations of the genre are not met. Hence lower numbers.

What I said to desigal90. If genre expectations are not met, people will not watch no matter how high critics rate it. The proof is in the numbers.
If the show is so great why does it has the lowest viewership ever...
Anyway, I have question about her nomenclature
Is it athentic?
There are many reasons:
• It's a show about a completely new MCU character with a first time actor unlike previous shows.
• Many people were turned off by the uninteresting trailer and the show catering more to kids and pre-teens. But those who did end up watching it tend to like it.
• Coming of age teenage drama is not everyone's cup of tea and MCU fans are more into action. Same can be said about Spider-Man but he's much more popular character.
• Show loses it's focus in the middle. Writing is average to below average.
• Non-white female lead who is not even sexualized.
• Show is about Pakistani muslim character and family. Most of the audience watching the show couldn't relate to it and some would even have prejudice against it.
• If Marvel tried to tap into the Indian market by making a show with South Asian lead and showing history of partition, they got it all wrong. Because MCU already has a big fanbase in India and they weren't getting any new audience here, definitely not from a Pakistani superhero.
@bold, don't know what you're saying!

Is the name Kamala Khan authentic?
I don't think a Kamala Khan exists ( unless it's a married name, maybe)

Authentic for a Pakistani muslim? I'm not sure. I guess it does since it's female version of Kamaal. They did give a reason in the show for why her parents named her Kamala.

Moon knight had second highest view having tied wandavision and TFATWS. Also loki wasn't that straight forward and its the highest viewed among all marvel series.
Ms marvel is not really for people who ghave crossed teenage. Or even for teenagers tbh. Also south asian dialogues are also very cliched and pathetic i have seen. The villain was worst. The representation of pakistan was correct though.
