Start a discord server. Can chat, voice chat, video chat, have a watch party. And it can be private server with invite needed to join.

We recently allowed embedding Voice messages (using Reverb).

You can record the message and share the link. It gets embedded easily. So those who are comfortable with audio can use it else continue with writing/typing.
