People here is not plural of a person. People is also used as a singular to indicate race or ethnicity. I would include a link but am too lazy to look. You can always Google *people as singular noun.*

‘A people’ is technically grammatically correct. It is however archaic English which is why it sounds so odd when it’s used in the 21st century. I’m guessing this is a quote she’s taken from some archaic source, hence the wording.

We still have a few phrases that adhere to this type of wording, for example ‘she’s my kind of people’.

I am not justifying her,she stood with the people who had a hand in getting CAA not implemented which led to minorities in Pakistan and Bangladesh having to continue with their terror filled lives,I can't justify that.
