It is correct. The sentence is using 'people' as singular to denote ethnic groups, race, nations etc.

are you talking about her going to JNU?because I thought of that too while reading the caption...but I don't think she actually had any opinion,she only went coz her movie was releasing,and considering how it didn't work she won't try doing it again I guess.

I am not justifying her,she stood with the people who had a hand in getting CAA not implemented which led to minorities in Pakistan and Bangladesh having to continue with their terror filled lives,I can't justify that.

Nope, the grammar is not correct if she wants to use 'A' then the sentence should be 'A person' not people, as people is plural of person.
