The old ramayan that used to come in Doordarshan? I didn't know national awards were given to tv shows as well. But the tv shows during Doordarshan times used to be good.

I love that where parents don’t impose their rules on kids. Same my parents never forced me to go temple either and I knew about Mahabharat due to the paths at home but even there I could attend or not if I want. My grandparents didn’t care either - they used to do those big pooja at home every year but my attendance was optional and I went sometimes and skipped majority of the times.

Yes he was very very famous and his work was appreciated to the point people started thinking he was Raavan and built a temple and worshipped him.

Before privatisation, Doordarshan was the only channel available and it's government funded. So everyone had only Doordarshan to watch. Srk started his career with a Doordarshan show. Then other channels like starplus, Zee etc came in the late 90s i guess.
