Pushpa Impossible: Making a lot of things possible

This show reminds me of the times of Baa Bahoo aur Baby, but does not take away from the charm of today either. Characters are sketched out so well, they are pretty normal people with their quirks and flaws, who just want the best for their own lives. Pushpaben is a complete phatakdi, she may have had a hard life and grown from being a kaamwali to a tiffinwali, but she has not lost her self-respect in the bargain and will not let anyone put any blemish on it either. Also really loved how Pushpa's children may not be the most ideal in the world, but they do have immense respect for the sacrifices of their mother, and will not cross a certain threshold of morality. The Patels have a very transparent relationship, jaisa dikhta hai waise hi hai, there is nothing under the surface that they dont share with each other, and even if they chide their mother for being a little too frank, it does not take away from being worried about her welfare when she for instance disappears in the middle of night or struggles to arrange for money for their needs 🤗

Seeing our beloved Baa in the show adds another star in the crown, I am such a huge fan of Sarita Joshiji and her work that it is just such an honour to see her again. Deepti is one of my favourites as of now, because not only does she understand both sides of the situation, but is not one to blindly follow her parents or Ashwin either, she has clarity and her priorities are set. In Deepti's family's case too, they are sorted individuals, who are being extremely practical about the situation, while wanting her happiness and not going gaga over Ashwin. It is not about the ego of the classism, but the fact that they know that their daughter deserves a certain standard, and they did have those aspirations for her. Same like Pushpa wanting Ashwin to have his own life and fly high and not sacrifice and vice versa 👍🏼

Ashwin really won me over when he stated very clearly how his mother, brother and sister are his responsibility and he wont leave them for Deepti. Could have been a turning point for his in-laws, but they did receive it well. He is the elder one who understands what he needs to do for the family, and fears putting his career over it, but at some point, he might have to push the lever and take control of the career aspect if he needs to earn more money and grow for his family tbh. Lets see where that takes him and Deepti. Both of them are currently my favourite reel characters-that feel-like-normal jodi on iTV ❤️

Chirag reminds me of Pravin bhai (BBB) a lot, dil accha hai lekin tareeka kaccha hai, he is trying to make quick money and do jugaad to save money and contribute his share to the house, but he is not grown up enough to realise that his wall art can be transformed to a career and become his path to success, which will get him accolades and paisa. The neighbourhood flirtation with Prathna is cute, but seems to be one-sided as of now, and the whole Bapodra-Chirag angle will be fire if that relationship ever takes off 🤣

Rashi is also the typical teenager we see all around us. She is the youngest but not spoilt per say by her mother or brothers. Her frustration about her mother being less educated, or the undertones of bullying she has to suffer because she is not naturally gifted in academics seemed relatable to some extent. That said, she loves her family, can see the limitations, but she wants her own sky too. Have not gotten a chance to see her TikTok reels/influencer magic as of now, but seems like that might become her passion and a chance for her to gain recognition and also to give due attention to her mother's cooking talent (for expansion in the future) 😳

Certain elements of the chawl setting do get OTT at times, but its all in jest because of how diverse the side characters are. Hope their character sketches also get even more clear with time, because currently they seem to be just in-and-out of the narrative as required, and we do not know more about them than how they are helpful to Pushpa. The Pushpa chasing Chirag with a bat scenes too seem more apt for our generation, our mothers certainly followed us with belans, but have not seen any families doing that recently tbh, especially with today's kids immediately threatening to call the police for child abuse anytime you even scold them rightfully 😈

Overall, two weeks in, I am truly enjoying this show and looking forward to seeing how the BMC water issue, Chirag's debt issue, Rashi's coaching class fees and Ashwin's wedding (the dilemma of whether is it still on or AshTi breakup for now?) is now resolved 👍🏼

So well written Tannu! Sadly I haven't had the time to watch any episodes so far, wanted to watch the repeat on Sunday but rains 😭

I'm glad to see the kids are not spoilt and love and respect their mother. Promos were a tad misleading😆

I'll try to watch! Your writeup 🤗

Arey I also catch up on alternate weekends. Just finished watching from last Friday to this Friday 😆

The kids do not coddle her, but they are justified whenever they do call her out too, they don't do it out of entitlement, but necessity of the situation 😳

Now they are exaggerating the uneducated aspect of Pushpa a little bit more than needed, noone is that ignorant about social etiquettes, and she literally sold an expensive item for less than what it is worth even without thinking about future expenses or contingency planning, kinda going against her character trait of single-handedly managing and supporting the children for so many years 😕

But I'm hoping that this is a build-up showing her flaw and leading to her also enrolling to study soon. All the characters are otherwise still being a mix of innocence and sensible, so I am sticking on for now 👍🏼

Do watch whenever possible, and share your own thoughts 🤗

I watched half an episode yesterday, she goes to Patan and meets her old schoolmaster. He says you were the topper in school, you shouldn't have left school so early.

I don't like character inconsistencies just to move the plot ahead. Like if she was really a topper in school, means she has her basics clear. 10th pass isn't illiterate, she can read, write, do math and everything. Maybe she's not well versed with English, being in a Gujarati school and so on but not knowing English =/= to illiteracy.

Promo shows her asking the kids problem kya hai, maa anpadh hai ye ya maa ab padhna chahti hai.

Same. I just did not like that part where someone who was shown to be the topper and also a single parent who has grown up her children through all difficulties did not consider the advantage of getting a fair price for her rare Patola. Would have helped for not just Rashi's fees, but the contribution to Ashwin's marriage too. Now she is struggling to figure out how to make up for the money needed for it. And this whole thing of trying to prove as if someone who passed out from a regional school cannot be equivalent to a English medium person is so annoying, but it is true that people do drag you down purposely in big cities over English and in worse ways than is shown here (happened with my own cousin), so the behaviour of others is not completely off in that regard. Pushpa is a 9th pass, not 10th, that's why she is not able to get some jobs that she wants to take up to help with expenses for Ashwin's marriage, where the minimum requirement is atleast 10th+. Now as per the promo, she is trying to complete her 10th, so she becomes eligible for those opportunities.

Honestly though, her children do have a realistic response to it, at the first glance, noone gets it unless they really sit down and think about it carefully, and they will eventually come around to support her too, though it will take a toll on them esp. Rashi to have to fend for her in front of the classmates. Lets see how they deal with this sensitive issue. Sincerely hope they do not make it into a joke or hand off some problematic lessons in the bargain (like Rashi taking revenge if her mom is smarter than her in classes etc).

The repeats are on Sunday evening.

They showed Pushpa handling her family, tiffin business and some people making fun of her being illiterate including her kids.

Now she finally managed to get admission in her daughter's school. She went to school but has had difficulties due to language. It is funny and serious, balanced well.

Wow you have done a fantastic write up on all the characters. The character sketch has been beautifully crafted . You have captured everyone’s nuances perfectly. So far I am enjoying the dialogue given to Pushpa,

Her drive to achieve her dreams and the struggles she has to navigate through is what I am eager to watch.

Tagging few of my fellow ghum folks who may appreciate your writing.

Recently I starting watch this show. Show has nice concept and quite logical too. Yeh rashi kitni foolish hai

Ise apny mummy ko school se nikane ke bajaye apne exam pe dhyaan dena chahiye nahi to 80percent ka Jo target diya gaya, rashi jo 48percent paati thi ab ki baar sirf 20percent aayenge अगर apni maa ka bura sochegi

Neha seems to have covered it pretty well. The current track is focussing on her going back to school and finding a new goal 😳
