Part B

Chapter 6

M- Fine. Geet will move to some other room

Charu jumps in with her cheery voice trying to normalize the tense situation but somehow her chirpiness sounds so plastic to Geet

C- Bhai, some other room kyu? She can. Ove to the room adjacent to mine. Itna mazza aayega naa, Geet! Hum dono ki dosti bhi badh jayegi

Maan smiles seeing his sister’s happiness and he is also happy that his sister has accepted Geet in her life

But Geet is having an unexplained sinking feeling; maybe it’s because the room she will be shifting to the farthest room from Maan’s or is it something else?

She rushes off her thoughts as childish and concentrates on the dinner

‘Ah! Finally! Back to my room. My skin crawls seeing that witch! What does Maan see in her?’

Charu sighs in relief after entering her room

She can’t tolerate sight of Geet

She can’t stand when Maan touches her

She shivers with disgust

But she knows knows not to mess up with Maan

‘That Witch has wrapped him well around her unmanicured fingers’

She hears Geet pull her stuff into the next room

She had refused help from the servants and pulled her stuff herself

‘Peasant!’

Charu snarks

‘At least she is away from Maan now’

Charu exclaims happily

But her happiness was short lived as she could hear giggles from the next room

She knew there were two people in there

She clutches her bedsheet and fists them

G- Tum? Yahan? Abhi?

She questions bit theatrically as she sees Maan at the door

Geet was expecting a servant but seeing Maan there instantly makes her grin

M- Main nahi aunga toh kaun ayega?

Maan answers humoring her and picking her up in his arms and closing the door with his feet

She chuckles happily

Charu is tossing on her bed

Just the idea of physical closeness of Maan with Geet somehow makes her throw up in her mouth

++++++++++

In the Morning:

Geet wakes up happily in Maan’s arms

She has slept peacefully last night after years

Same with Maan

The morning looked extra beautiful today

They both get up and walk to the breakfast table after dressing up

They wish ‘Good Morning’ to grandpa happily

But Charu was no where to be seen

G- Where is…?

Charu appears at the table

But she looks as if she hasn’t slept whole night

Grandpa- Are you feeling, okay?

Charu nods

M- Are you sure you are not sick?

Maan inquires

Charu’s eyes light up and she smiles and purses her lips

C-I am fine

She pushes a strand of her hair behind her ear

Geet finds something off, but she can’t put a finger on it

The way…the way…Charu looks at Maan…is not …is not like a sister would

Geet thinks to herself

Charu knows she looks like a mess, she couldn’t sleep a wink last night

‘Things can’t go on like this’

Charu thinks to herself

Nice part. What’s wrong with charu? Maan is brother not other man. What is reason for her behavior. Geet feels odd but can’t voice out.
