Musk waived his right to due diligence with a very public claim that he doesn't care what the stats are. So he can't use the stats to back out. Point is the fake user stats are irrelevant now.

He is also openly manipulating the stock of a publically listed company that he is supposed to be acquiring on a nearly daily basis. So Twitter is full within their right to withold information from him as they see fit, because he can't be trusted to not broadcast whatever analysis he comes up with.

He overplayed his hand and now wants to back out, because the deal is hurting the Tesla stock.

Edit - Matt Levine would have you know Twitter apparently has enough credibility that their spam account numbers are correct. So not only is he making an excuse, he is lying as usual.

And his piece are more context that Musk is probably asking for private user information, which Twitter simply cannot share.

On a side note, Musk has literally zero credibility at this point. He hasn't uttered an honest statement in years now. I don't understand why people keep batting for him.

No it means that he has no intention of buying it ( probably didn’t have it in the first place ). Twitter bots didn’t crop up yesterday and a good portion of the accounts that gas him up on Twitter are also probably bots too .

He is the aspirational white frat guy that supposedly made it from the ground up ( they ignore that Elon’s family was already loaded).
