This movie would've worked in 2016, when the audience was going gaga over Akki and his "nationalist" films.

But Akshay has reached his saturation point now. And his refusal to do age appropriate roles, his political and social hypocrisies and Prithivraj being an overall bad film is the reason why it isn't working.

Also, the trend of biopics & historicals is sort of getting over. I know Gangubai worked, but it was one of its kind.

Btw I am sure Akki will jump to his pet Housefull projects now to save his sinking career.😆

Mindless masala comedies like Housefull may work for him, but even that's a risk now for him. An average Housefull film released at a bad time may still flop.

People saw a lot of similarities with Bala (Housedull 4). That gummy smile kinda expressions might be okay for a modern day man but an ancient king? I heard reviews say that Akshay didn't fit the persona of Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan. Not as bad as the trailer but nothing very good either. Songs are forgettable, not like SLB period films. Plus, Akshay's off screen personality (& his wife's) is affecting his on screen image. Canadian Deshbhakt, Fitness 'Vimal Gutka' Freak, the proud 42 days completion statements & haters of his pro government stand. I read elsewhere that Twinkle's mocking was the final nail in Akshay's career coffin.

I hoping this is Akshay's Thugs of Hindustan and he does better in the future. Giving a standard 40-42 days to every movie regardless of the genre isn't going to help though.

Cuz its a bad movie with a pathetic actor.

This and Thugs do make you appreciate SLB more though. He just really knows how to create the atmosphere. Nothing really breaks it. The dialogue, the costumes, the production design and the music. It makes one willing to excuse the weaker elements like the action choreography and the screenplay. Nothing as immersion breaking as Katrina doing aerobics in a brothel.

Let's see what Shamshera does. Karan is from the KJo school. So at least like Kalank, it would not be cheap looking. But the rest is still going to be very difficult to pull off.

Dr Trivedi is good director... but of old school. May be difficult to connect with young audience or he didn't have much to control over the movie.

Maybe YRF should have bothered casting an actor who would be more age appropriate for the role of Prithviraj Chauhan and would actually have taken the role more seriously unlike Akshay 🤔.

Akshay ke dogalepan se bahut log usse chidhne lage hain. Plus miscast bhi hai wo is role me.

Dialouge Nahi hai which could arouse excitement, Music is not good, not even average, pairing is horrible, and last ppl will now expect bahubali kind of film if anyone making film from that era.
