I exist on forums in the shadows. Not very active anywhere. Bas time-time pe, jata deti hu ki abhi bhi hu. I mostly don't open any thread here but, in other places, I comment on things that I find interesting

Apologies for being super late. Since I no longer watch the show, my love, anger and every other emotion in regard to the show had died too so I had to go back to the old episodes, clips as well as Twitter to get some motivation and the frustration I had in regards to the show and the characters. Next chapter is 85% done. It's a long one. It will be uploaded by the end of tomorrow, Sunday 22nd May 23.59 IST. Thank you for your patience and apologies for being so irregular.

Edit: My draft got deleted on IF 😭 Never making one here ever again. Writing on word and copying and pasting here is a way better option 😭 Will rewrite and post tomorrow. Sorry.

Chapter 6a

Sai's discharge was nearing fast and Virat's apprehension was growing even faster. By now, Sai has been informed of the basics with some white lies. Pulkit had informed her of her college life and had reintroduced her friends. It didn't take long for Sai to get into her comfort level with them, especially with Ajinkya and Aniket. Virat, with the help of Usha maushi, had also managed to convince her into believing that she was staying at Chavan Niwaas as a guest and will remain so till she finished her education and becomes independent. Moreover, the cause of Sai's current state was told to be a drunk driving case and that the culprit had been caught and dealt with; a lie that came from Ashwini when she had come to visit Sai in the hospital. Sai who had never known what a mother's love was, hugged Ashwini and cried thanking her profusely for everything. Devi also visited frequently along with Samrat and Mohit but the main person that Sai really bonded with from the Chavan clan was Shivani bua. Shivani visited her every single day, cracked lame jokes, and told Sai about her latest love ventures and her travel stories. And just like that time flew and it was time for Sai to leave the hospital. Both, Pulkit and Virat were ready to take her home. Virat who had been avoiding Pulkit like a disease since their last conversation finally decided to man up and inform Pulkit of his decision in regard to Sai. The two decided to have a conversation privately while Shivani and Devi helped Sai pack all her belongings.

"Virat, mujhe lagta hai ki Sai ko mere..." started Pulkit only to be cut off abruptly by Virat.

"Dekho, Pulkit. Main janta hu kitum Sai ki bahot parvah karte ho aur use apni choti bahen samjhte ho par main Sai ka pati hu. Ha, maanta hu use abhi kuch yaad nahi hai par yaad na aana yeh sach toh nahi badlega na ki Sai ka jo rishta mere saath hai woh uske baaki har rishte se upar hai. Main maanta hu Maine galtiyan ki hai par main yeh bhi jaanta hu ki main Sai ke bina nahi rahe sakta. Uski yaadasht kho jana mere liya ek naye mauke se kam nahi hai. Main hamari life ko ek nayi shuruwaat dunga."

"Aur tab kya hoga Virat jab Sai ko sab sach yaad aa jayega? Tab kya kahoge tum usse? Kya karoge tum jab use is accident ka sach pata chalega? Kaise samjhaoge use ki uske saath itna bada dhoka kyun huwa hai? yeh baat toh tum bhi jaante ho Virat ki Sai ko jhuth se kitni nafrat hai. Kab take jiyoge tum uske saath yeh jhuth aur kya tumhe pura yakeen hai ki Sai tumhe tab maaf kardegi?" Pulkit scoffingly asked.

"Mujhe aage ke baare mein abhi aur kuch nahi sochna hai. Main bas itna jaanta hu ki woh pal aane se pahele main Sai ki zindagi mein itni khusiyan bhar dunga ki woh kabhi mujhese dur jaane ka soch bhi na sake. Khair, mujhe jo tumhe batana tha woh main bata chuka hu aur ab mujhe nahi lagta ki mujhe kisi ko bhi apne rishte ke baare mein koi bhi safaai dene ki zaroorat hai. Sai meri biwi hai, meri zimmedaari hai aur main khud use handle karlunga. Tumne Sai ke theek hone mein bahot madad ki use liye, thank you. ab main chalta hu, meri biwi ghar jaane ke liye mera wait kar rahi hogi." Saying that Virat walked away without giving a chance for the conversation to persist.

Pulkit looked at the fading image of Virat going away. He had been continuously having a bad feeling about this situation but he also knew that his hands were indeed tied. Whether he liked it or not, the fact remained that Virat was Sai's legal guardian and till Sai's memories returned he could not do much to help her. He was helpless yet he hoped that things would turn out differently and in the best of Sai's interests.

Shivani, Mohit and Virat along with Sai reached Chavan Niwaas and were warmly welcomed with an arti by Ashwini. Samrat seemed overjoyed to see Sai back. Sai, too was glad to see some happy faces however was quite confused by the cold reaction of most others. She mentally took note to ask Shivani bua later. Sai was taken to her and Virat's room but as per Virat's instructions, all his belongings along with anything and everything related to their marriage or past one year together were moved out of Sai's sight. The room now belonged only to Sai now. This was Ashwini's grand idea to let Sai remain in that room so that something may help in triggering her memory. Sai was pampered by Ashwini, Virat, Shivani, Ninad, Samrat and Mohit to no end. But Sai being Sai, kept asking questions regarding her past year. Patralekha had also calmed down a bit and suddenly seemed more cordial with Sai. Mohit had given his oath to his wife and mother so that they leave Sai alone while Omkaar devotedly listened to his wife's instruction so he kept mum too. The one thing that had not changed at all was the banter between Bhavani Kaku and Sai about their constantly colliding ideologies. However, even Kaku maintained dignity in their arguments and did not mention Sai being the daughter-in-law of the house. This was the biggest surprise for everyone else in the household too. There was a drastic shift in the dynamics between Kaku and Sai. Little did anyone know that Kaku was warming up to the boisterous Sai, especially after seeing her condition at the hospital. There was no longer any relationship pressure between the duo. The moment Kaku noticed Sai was being quiet, she would immediately taunt her to start the riot. This was indeed a sight to see.

And just like that... 3 months of Sai's house arrest bed rest had ended. Sai was now physically fit to attend her classes in person. She was really mad at her friends for not visiting her at Chavan Niwaas for a single day. They called daily, provided her notes and helped her out wherever possible but instantly diverted Sai's requests for them to visit her. they always had an excuse at the tip of their tongue. Sai was ready to teach them a lesson but also was super excited to finally be out of the house and be in her Aaba's dream place. Virat also had a day off so he decided to drop his chirpy bird at the college. Sandhya, Milind, Ajinkya and Aniket were waiting for her excitedly at the college gates with flowers and rushed to group hug her as soon as she got off the car. Sai was overwhelmed at the welcome and hugged them back but suddenly noted that everyone broke the hug and stood apart rigidly. Sai gave them a confused look and then followed their stern gaze. She looked back and forth and knew that if looks could kill, then Virat sir would definitely be lying dead right now. She immediately knew the reason for her friends not visiting her but couldn't understand the root cause.

Virat gave a curt nod to the four and turned to Sai, " Sai, main ab ja raha hu. Tum please apna dhiyaan rakhna aur agar tabiyat kharab ho toh mujhe turant phone karna. Main aa jaunga tumhe lene. Chalta hu" And with that, he drove away.

Sai immediately turned to the now relaxed friends of hers and asked without missing a beat, " toh? what did I miss? Aur jhoot bolne ki koshish bhi matt karna. Virat sir ko dekh kar tumlog raise kyun behave kar rahe the? Kuch huwa tha kya?"

"Shaant Rajdhaani express, shaant! "Aisa kuch nahi hai, hai na guys?" replied Ajinkya.

While Milind and Aniket nodded their yes, Sandhya immediately replied, " Actually Sai, Virat sir ne Ajinkya ke saath misbehave kya tha. Unhe laga tha ki tumhare aur Ajinkya ke beech mein kuch chal raha hai. isiliye hum mein se koi bhi unhe pasand nahi karta. and guys stop giving that look! Kabhi nabhi toh Sai ko pata chalna hai toh aaj kyun nahi? "

"Hein??? Kya sach mein aisa kuch hai? Aur agar hai bhi toh isme Virat sir kyun bura manenge? Par phir bhi unki taraf se main tumse maafi maangti hu Aj. Woh meer legal guardian hai na, toh shayad meri protection ke liye unse aisi galti ho gayi hai. I am really sorry," apologised Sai deep in thoughts.

Aniket noticed the change in Sai's tone and quickly tried easing the situation. He slid next to Sai and put his arm protectively around Sai.

With his voice filled with humour and forced seriousness, Aniket said, " Sai, actually tum Aj ki nahi, meri gf ho. We are the IT couple of this college. Main gaata-bajata hu aur tum meru dhun pe Basanti ki tarah naachti ho. We are so much in love aur ab tumhare yeh chote-chote baal dekh kar mujhe pura yakeen ho gaya hai ki sirf main hi tumhari patni banne ke layak hu." And with that, the whole group broke into a peal of uncontrollable laughter including Sai who was momentarily stunned by whatever Aniket was saying. They hadn't had this moment in months and it finally felt that the old SAAMS was back.

Days started passing by faster and everything seemed blissful. No one questioned Sai about anything except for the occasional taunts by Sonali Kaku about Sai's male companions but Sai handled her like a pro and effortlessly shut her up. It was now a week before the exam. Sai and Ajinkya were called to the dean's office for some important task.

At the dean's office...

"Sai, Ajinkya. mujhe tum dono se bahot important baat karni hai. Tum dono hamare college ke brilliant students mein se ho. Aur ab tum dono bahot jald 2nd year mein kadam rakhne ja rahe ho. Darasal hum ek college representative group bana rahe hai jinko hum 3 months ke liye abroad bhejenge for more advanced learning. Iss initiative se hum baaki countries se ache contacts bhi banaye rakhenge aur isse baaki students ko motivation milegi ki woh bhi mehnat kar ke kabhi na kabhi is group ka hissa bane. Aur toh aur aur is group mein se kisi ek student ko unke performance ke according videsh mein padhne ke liye full scholarship bhi diya jayega. main chahti hu ki tum dono iske baare mein socho. Apne families se baatein karna is baare mein. Final listing toh exam result aane ke baad aayega but tab tak EOI toh de hi sakte ho na? Agar tum dono ko interest ho toh kal apne saare certificates ke copies aur baaki important documents laka kar mujhe dedena," came the clear intent and instructions from the dean.

Sai and Ajinkya shared an overjoyed look, thanked the Dean for the opportunity and assured her that they will submit all documents on time tomorrow. the two almost ran out of the room to share the news with everyone in the cafeteria. The clan was as excited and demanded a party.

While munching on the yummy samosas, Milind casually asked, " Sai, Aj ka toh pata hai, par kya tumhare Virat sir tumhe jaane denge?"

"Kyun nahi jaane denge? Woh khud hi toh kahete hai ki meri padhaai unki zimmedaari hai toh unko toh aur bhi proud hona chahiye na ki mujhe better opportunities mil rahe hai. Main toh zaroor jaungi and imagine guys agar mujhe abroad padhne ka full scholarship mil jaye... Haaye... mere aaba aur mera sapna aur bhi khubsurti se pura ho jayega, replied Sai, getting lost in her happy thoughts.

Sandhya flicked her fingers in front of Sai breaking her trance. "Nagpur calling Sai, Nagpur calling Sai. Wapas aa ja, dost.Tu toh abhi se hume chocdh ke jaane ki baat kar rahi hai. But am so happy for you both," said Sandhya hugging them both tightly, with tears in her eyes.

Sai had an amazing day throughout. She put a hundred times more effort into her academics than she usually did. She only had one thought in her head and that was she had to get deleted for this major learning experience. She couldn't wait to go home and share the news with everyone. She profusely thanked Bappa in her mind. Even though her last year was a fragmented mess, she was grateful that Bappa had good plans in store for her.

As soon as she reached home, she started looking for her certificate file. Ashwini informed her that Virat kept all her important documents and that she should ask her. Sai did not like the idea of calling him and disturbing him during his work hours so she decided to just for it on her own in his room.

After shuffling through the drawers, she finally found her file in his closet drawer. Just as she was about to close the drawer, another document which had her name caught her attention. She picked it up and suddenly the ground beneath her feet shifted. She dropped her certificate file and grasped the other document with both hands. Her teary eyes were now red. Her feet were unable to carry her weight anymore. She sat down wearily on the bed still burning holes in that document and at that very moment, Virat walked in.

"Sai, tum..."

Sai cut off his sentence midway and pushed the document on him and coldly replied, "Explain this Virat sir!"

Sorry, sorry sorry and extremely sorry for the late update.

Please excuse the errors, it's not been proofread and a lot has been chopped off (unintentionally). For some unknown reason, the actual chapter I had written got deleted from the drafts on IF and I couldn't retrieve it. 😭😭

So I tried to summarise and incorporate whatever I could. The scenes may seem to be a bit rushed but I really didn't want to dwell on sad aspects. that's been well written by others. I want to get to the present day asap.

(I am sure I had written a Patralekha and Sai scene in the hospital but I forgot what I had written).

I would have loved to see V's reaction to Aniket saying you are my GF...

Maybe Sai could have mentioned in jest and V would have heard..
