Look at the opening of South films.

If you look at star power as opening day, then Charan, Mahesh Babu, Siva Karthikeyan and Vijay are miles ahead with almost 20 cr + opening and that too only in a few states

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is competing for the best advance post pandemic for original Hindi content (not counting KGF2 ). The advances are not huge but the film can beat the 8 crore nett plus number of 83 by the time the advance ends on Thursday night. The ill fated 83 is on top by default as the advances of the other big film Sooryavanshi opened very late. Even if the advance of Bhool Bhulaiyaa falls short of 83 in terms of collections it is sure to beat in terms of footfalls due to the lower ticket pricing..

Actually its not to correct to call it lower pricing but it is what is called normal pricing while likes of 83 and KGF 2 had blockbuster pricing. This is the lowest slab in terms of pricing today but its still around 30% higher than where we were at just before the pandemic with release of Baaghi 3 in 2019.

This film held huge importance for the industry as something had to open well to put the minds at rest and the various theories for original Hindi content not doing well while a few films from South and Hollywood managed to get an audience. This film is going to do that as advances are pretty good outside the bigger multiplexes which ensures a good crowd on the day of release. The wider appeal of the film in terms of mass and youth audience is the reason why the film will find an audience on the first day.

This is something which the other releases did not have as either catering more towards urban (Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, Runway, Jersey) or attempting to cater to mass and youth but with very poor trailers (Satyamava Jayate 2 , Heropanti 2).

The advance of Bhool Bhulayaa 2 stood at around 1.75 crore nett on Tuesday evening and around 50% of this will be for the first day. The film had almost 28k tickets at the national chains (PVR, INOX, Cinepolis) for Friday on Tuesday night and this should cross 1 lakh by Thursday night.

The key here is that advance sales outside the high end multiplexes are better than 83 which means that outside Mumbai city and South it should be able to surpass that film in all circuits on day one. Gujarat is going to score very well on day one and hopefully that can push the Mumbai circuit number over the 83 number and compensate for Mumbai city shortfall. South there will be shortfall but that will hardly matter.

The victory of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 will depend on what happens over the weekend and after but for the industry the first day itself will be a victory and a huge lift to morale.

Me thinks the BOI article above is trying to sound more confident than actually is. This seems to be the new schtick for producers and marketing teams now. Pretend that a movie is doing better than it is hoping it will encourage others to go see a “hit movie 😉”. Just don’t take it a step too far and buy bulk tickets to show house full numbers like Nadiadwala did.

I donot know but i am surprised when my brother said he already booked tickets for this movie for Saturday...

He is a lazy person who waits to see reviews for any regional language movie but booked advanced for this movie...

So this movie may surprise us. It has BB 1 advantage and also trailer and title track is a hit.
