That's right. It's down to the production house. Even Pritam revealed this fact, that producers have literally forced him to use certain singers over others. They really favour youth, which is good promoting new talent but I feel they disregard the seniors.Originally posted by: Arsalan_khan
Udit has been consistent for Amir Khan films till 2001 , and even in one interview Udit has shown his displeasure of not getting any song in Faana, he said it was the first time i was not used for Amir Khan film, for SRK he wasnt as consistent as for Amir, SRK share Abhijeet and Sonu, Shukhwinder too while Amir Khan was highly associated only with Udit till 2001 Laggan he was there in every Amir film, in 90s i guess the only film he was not used in was Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke 1993, and this Udit also told in his intervew
Sonu's fight is a just fight, and it will benefit ALL singers. I haven't followed the case closely enough but I wish more people supported him in this. It's nice that he's featured in Aamir Khan's new film.

Yes Udit has sung many iconic songs for Aamir but I feel like Udit's voice is just as popular if not much more when used for SRK! 😉 especially with the general public.
Jaadu Teri Nazar (1993), Mehndi Laga Ke Rakhna (1995), Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Aankhein Khuli Ho (2000) Main Yahan Hoon (2004) to name just a few
[but I realise you're talking more about consistency]
SRK suited others too (Kumar Sanu, Abhijeet) but with Udit the most, I feel.
Whereas with Aamir, I don't think the other singers (in the 90s) suited him much at all, Udit was his main guy.
Anyway, like I said earlier, there is such less lip-synching going on today, so it doesn't matter if the singer doesn't suit the actor (see: Gerua).
