Netflix disrupted movie rentals and drove Blockbuster out of business. Then they introduced streaming and created a whole new way to consume TV. For the longest time, Netflix was the only player in the streaming market. Then Amazon and Hulu jumped in with original content. Now in the past few years, we have Apple TV, HBO Max, Disney Plus, Paramount Plus, Peacock. The market has saturated and with networks reclaiming their shows it was natural that Netflix would drop. This isn't unique to India, but global.
This is the natural part of the product life cycle. The streaming market is moving from maturity to saturation point. This might continue for decades like cable television and video rentals did before heading into decline.
Somewhere though, there might be the next disruptor in development.
Netflix regional content from Tamil & Malayalam is far better than it's Telugu and Hindi content.I don't know about other Indian languages because I haven't come across them.
Stories rooted in the culture with emotions that are relatable across the world cutting across different cultures and languages invariably become hits.
We can see that happening in India too. A film like Dangal is accepted by entire India is because the story and characters stayed true to the culture of that region the story was set in.
Netflix can sure raise the ills of the society but it should do so without being preachy.
I will still keep on watching Netflix for Bridgerton
