That's your pet peeve, which I don't agree with. Korean film industry is informally referred to as Hallyuwood by people of South Korea. The entire line of reasoning that everything "West" is bad and that we must do away with every single trace of it is something I was never on board with and perhaps never will be.

It's not about everything west.. it's more about having certain originality.

Rather than calling Hollywood or any other wood it's better to be called English Cinema, Korean Cinema and Indian Cinema.

P.S. I just felt it was fair to do it, one shouldn't be asking for it shukar hai you didn't 🙏

I disagree vehemently with naming everything English cinema, Korean Cinema, Japanese cinema etc. Creativity just died a thousand deaths, no thanks.

If creativity is what you feel is needed then you should be on board with all other cinema find their own names rather than just copying Hollywood. I guess we're back to square one it can let's name Bollywood anything but Bollywood. 😛

I think Bollywood is a very creative name. It must have taken them days if not months to come up with something that has a perfect ring to it, even if they combined Bombay and Hollywood. A job well done, I would say. Hindi Cinema, on the other hand, sounds like you might as well just check your last brain cell at the door cuz everything is gonna be spelled out to you as it is, with zero room for fun. Where's the fun and where's the innovation in that? Yikes. No thanks.

If I remember it correctly, even Saif and Kareena had advocated the rechristening of bollywood into Hindi Film Industry. Several filmmakers echoed similar sentiments.

I personally feel bollywood sounds incredibly stupid. One should come up with something that doesn't smack of piracy.

Why you weren't my teacher when I was copying two of my classmates work and making it as my own only to be reprimanded by teacher for lacking originality and creativity. 🤷🏻‍♂️Also..
