How can people hate that? It is the truth after all, work is simply work and there's respect in all honest work.

Just because you're educated doesn't mean that you'll get an office job or become a doctor etc, life throws many curve-balls at you and what's so degrading about doing a job that most of us do at home from free anyways?

Obviously, majority of people don't become domestic workers for fun, it's because of situations in life that pushes you into it. You've got to earn to be able to live!

Their kids are getting degree, our helping hand didi's daughter is in class 7, our past helping hand bua's daughters, 1 has a degree in hotel management now and the other is in first year of college.

Who the hell Imlie is representing? The city domestic helpers are conscious and even the villagers have a way to behave and knows how should they behave.

First and Last she represents None only Downgrades the stereotype!

There's a saying people should behave according to STHAAN(Place), KAAL(Time), PATRA(The type of people who are in front of you) in Sanskrit. And believe me I doubt even Atif cared about it with this BIZARRE promo that is ought to hurt sentiments for the working class as well as for the elite class. Even middle class like me can't digest it!

Bold: Literally no one but her own regressive mind set, and the fact that she has lost all common sense in the need to one up Aryan

What really triggered me is when Aryan said 'Choti harkat', Imlie immediately came up with this idea and it says a lot about her more than anyone else at all.

Why is her first thought that being a domestic worker is choti harkat and something Aryan will be embarrassed by? Out of all the people there, she shouldn't even be thinking like this at all, especially after Meethi raised her with the money she earned from being a domestic worker. The clownery is unreal!

I personally think this whole scene has been written to parallel episode 14, where Aditya stayed mum when she called herself a naukrani to save his backside and then moments later said this spectacular line "Apni jagah mat bhoolna!".

Once she's choosing to become a domestic worker but not because of internalised misogynism and society's teachings about being a good wife but for clownery and to one-up Aryan, this is where the parallel falls flat for me, it's tastless and caricaturish.

This time they'll probably have Aryan acknowledging and praising her and Meethi for what they had to do to survive but it will be meaningless for me because of the weak writing and (un)development.

That is what stood out to me as well. Like why would she think this is choti harkat?

Why is this the first place her mind went to?

Exacly but her we have, our amazing FL showing is that being a domestic worker is something to be ashamed off.

I do know/understand that scenes will not occur as shown in promos but regardless of that, this promo is out there for the masses, even for those who don't watch!

What will they see, the absolute clownery of Imlie sweeping while there's guests and making a fool of herself and the job in itself, please pray tell, which domestic helper brushes dust on guests and makes the floor wet creating a hazard. The tomfoolery of it all is what gets me peaked!

Just because someone is a domestic helper doesn't mean they're don't have common sense or are jaahil🙄

That is exactly my biggest problem: she's representing no one and caricaturing a working class profession to one-up Aryan. Wtf sort of logic is that? And, frankly, the classism and casteism this promo has triggered in a large part of the audience is just nauseating.

It's almost as if she has no intelligence left.

Yeah, you don't owe Aryan love or marriage, but Jesus Christ! Do you have no guilt whatsoever for trying to marry him off to a stranger? This tashan is not cute or fair anymore.

Oh my God exactly. I was trying to get my thoughts together after the promo and you have worded it perfectly. I don't even know what more to add cause what you've said says everything. I'm afraid they're taking every bit of nuance Imlie had and just going to the broader strokes of - she's a teenager who's going to do irrational mistakes - but a lot of her background and understanding is being swept under the rug for this one promo.

Yes there's a battlefield of sorts playing, and Imlie has become hyper focused on 'defeating' Aryan - but it has only increased everyone's frustration because her character has absolutely seen NO growth in the past one month.

And this promo is so off beat and out of tone due to a number of reasons that I won't attempt to rewrite because you've done a marvelous job at what was pinching about the video.

Also considering caste and economic class... the tone deafness of this promo couldn't be a lot.

PS: I absolutely loved all the disclosures you put in. Very lawyer like. Ah... that reminds me of KC *sad*
