People can like whoever, but surely even fans can see the superlatives are way too early.

At this point, she has been called prettier than Madhuri, on par or better than Vidya and PC and Rani (no one mentions Tabu, one wonders why 😆), as good a dancer as Madhuri and Sridevi. Arrey, at least dance can be judged a little on technique. It's pretty plain that Alia cannot dance, but even that crown is now handed to her!😆 She was previously called Meryl Streep by her family and PR.

At this rate, it won't be long before someone calls Alia the 2nd coming of Bharata Muni.

It doesn't matter what IF thinks, because Alia has had her image changed in general public's mind with this movie.

As for movie not being upto the mark, ofcourse it won't be it is the movie of art director Bhansali😆. His movies are great to look at, quite possibly the best ever in terms of aesthetics, but other than that, even Rohit Shetty creates a more engaging narrative. He was carried by Ranveer's Khilji last time in Padmavati and now Alia's Gangu.

No no I'm not directing it to you at all x)

I think she's been called a better actress than Madhuri, not a better dancer. Madhuri engulfs her in terms of dance, hands down.

I don't like comparing actors from different generations tbh, but while Madhuri has incredible charisma, she isn't exactly a great actress. Alia is definitely more versatile than her.

There'll always be people who exaggerate but imho, Alia deserves the applause she's getting for Gangubai.

I mean I didn't liked Padmavati as a movie, but it was a great experience in theater, same with Bajirao Mastani. Some movies are good one time watch, and every critic as far as I know criticised the second half for its pacing and editing.

Madhuri is a meh actress who had few good performances. Her biggest plus point is she has that old school adda wala expressions which looks great combined with her excellent dancing ability. Plus when she was young she was hot and knew how to shake the booty which made her the craze she was.

There was a prior thread where she was actually called a better dancer than Madhuri. Even here, I believe I saw one post saying the same.

(I'm not fan of Mads and think she's a below average actress)

Applause is one thing. Someone can have liked her. I didn't. I don't agree with the idea she put in a flawless performance. All the impressive moments were in the trailer. The rest was meh. The movie was meh. I wish I waited for Netflix

But the applause she's getting, by a huge percentage, consists of these superlatives. Hate to say this, but these are the times I feel the people who hate on her have a point. Every other actor's contribution to Bollywood is brought down to her level to make her look good.
