Budget is really scaring me but still want to watch this movie, i have confidence on Mani ratnam sir. His worst movie is also worth watching... No words for his best 👍🏼
Oh don’t worry about the budget. Nowadays 200crores budget films can earn 110cr and be called a blockbuster success. This movie only needs 225cr to be a hit. It’s totally doable with the satellite rights, OTT sales, YouTube revenue. I say we declare it a hit RIGHT NOW.
aajkal bahut sare films ya toh bahubali lag rahe hai ya war 😆
The Bahubali influence can't be denied in every industry. Every historical film these days takes cues either from Bhansali or Bahubali. I was taken aback to see recent Malayalam historical movie characters sporting colors when earlier they used to wear mostly white.

So good to see Ash after so long. Period dramas are her forte and Nandini is an excellent character that is right up her alley, so can't wait to see her sink her teeth into the role.
It's a 500 crore budget film, so I am sure Mani Ratnam left no stone unturned. It's been his dream project for 25 years. Glad to see it finally got made.
But waiting for 7 more months is PAINFUL!!!
wait - did I read 500 crore? Like are you sure you didn't put an extra zero or something? 😆 I mean, even if it sells a hell lot of tickets ... I still can't see it breaking even.

Don't know about the pan-Indian status. But at least in Tamil Nadu it will be a massive hit. The book is very popular with Tamils and is a ubiquitous presence in every major book store. But yes, other than Aish the cast isn't terribly exciting outside Tamil Nadu.
The only poster I liked was Karthi's
Other all posters are looking underwhelming or terrible
What is the novel based on ? Is it real story ?

It's entirely fictional. A novel written in 1950s by Kalki about the ascension to the throne of the 11th century Chola emperor Rajaraja Chola. Ash's character Nandini is the main villain. But she has some real grievances and is sympathetic. The English translation is widely available in paperback as well as ebook format.
