Gangubai Kathiawadi review and box office- released on Netflix - Page 45

There was a dialog by Ajay Devgan who played Gangu’s muhboli bhai and a mafia leader/bootlegger or some such thing. Gangu goes to him to ask for the rights to sell Alcohol in her area. He refuses saying he cannot make his sister sell alcohol(I mean🤔). I wonder what was the need for that dialog. Was the director trying to tell us how normalized the prostitution(for the lack of a better word) had become to the people in that area?

Absolutely loved the film! So engaging and so much emotion in the storyline, I was hooked from start to finish.

Alia is absolutely brilliant! What an incredible and powerful performance, she became gangubhai, cannot fault her performance. From the accent, voice modulation, body language, emotion, alia has done complete justice to the role. Definitely her best performance.
The rest of the cast have also done a great job, ajay is fantastic, vijay raaz, shantanu, the other girls who played prostitutes, everyone was wonderful.

My heart broke for gangu so many times throughout the film, especially when she sacrificed her love for shantanus character just so the young girl could have a better life.

Congratulations to slb and the entire team !

Not just for that one young girl but just so that she can win the hearts of the people there with that move and thereby win the election and strive for a better life for ALL the girls in Kamathipura. It also shows how effortless it had become to those girls to keep on trampling on their own dreams and desires.:(

People move on so fast. I actually forgot about the film. I know everyone is really bored because of the pandemic. At least something got them excited na? The film will not be a hit. It needs 200+ to be a big/clean hit

I’ve been Shaitan-Haiwan since 2012 and I intend on remaining like this. This has become a part of my brand and purpose. My display pic is inspired from Ritesh in Ek Villain. In that movie he was a murderer and I like to think of myself as advocate for equal opportunities and all things anti-nepotism.

Gangubai Kathiawadi IS a hit, no matter how many people have fits of frustration and envy, no matter who tries to invent a thousand things wrong with the leads or the script or whatever....

It is ok for individuals who go see it to have a different opinion or take on the film and to walk away with that opinion, even to express they are not impressed, it is expected that you cannot please 100% of the people 100% of the time, directors and actors are cool with that. SLB more than anyone and Alia is humble enough to know this and come thru unscathed, learn from the experience and strive to do better. The mark of a great actor and a genuine human.

Others have fits, scandalize, coerce and try to guilt and intimidate people into approving their work, when that does not work they accuse others and use victim cards to put the blame on everyone but themselves for their HUGE fail or flop. The mark of a mediocre actor and a treacherous human.

Those people who critique the film without seeing it are only lying to themselves.

Those who are using the morality angle or the Prostitution, child abuse angle is scandalous or the prohibited substance usage, to detract from the film and it's core message are also being hypocrites, because prostitution, child abuse and the rest of the sordid details are not made up or untruth, *in India* the statistics are abysmal. Calling attention to it and the plight of the victims of it, helps them in the long run, hiding behind false morality, religion or wanting to hide it, does NOT help them or makes it go away.

With evidence and facts: Gangubai Kathiawadi is a HIT a success in many ways, not just financial which is the goal for any industry, but on a personal level for the actors, producers and most of all the Director, who does not need a seal of approval, as he has already been inducted into the very exclusive list of great directors, on a world wide stage. Everything he does now is just extra to add to his body of work.

Those who feel, casting, plot, acting, theme etc... are wrong and could have been something else can go make a film and show us their talent, we will go see it, and judge.

Therefore in my opinion SLBs Gangubai Kathiawadi is perfect, a winner as it is, his vision brought to life and captured on screen gloriously and with the grandeur that is his signature and style. Bravo!

*I know people here do not like to read but I cannot help using a small footnote of factual information that substantiates my claim of prostitution statistics. No one has to believe it, so they are free to go research it, until they are satisfied one way or another, there are, hundreds if not thousands of evidentiary factual details.*

I stand by my assertion that it is a success for SLB and the performers and at this point others are also benefiting.

You however do not seem to have your math acumen on point and the trolling deficit clouds your perspective, so that your equations vary according to how you want the outcome to be. My job is not to teach you math.

How do I know the budget? It’s all over the internet. So what you’re saying is, you don’t believe Gangu’s budget is 160 as per media reports….. yet you believe the box office collection as per media reports 🤣 Wow. That makes ALOT of sense. Congratulations.
