Disclaimer: This is my take on ITV audience from what I have observed so far. Since I am one too this critique is as much directed at myself as it is at others.

There used to be and still there are section of audience who carry old fansioned patriarchal conservative mindset hence saas bahu shows and kitchen politics are still thriving.

And now there is a wave of pseudo woke audience who rebel, abuse and trashtalk a certain topic just to feel good about themselves and their moral compass.

Mind you I am not against healthy debates and criticisms which take whole picture into account, I'm talking about half baked assumptions and sweeping judgements. Still even they are opinions and I am just having an opinion on those opinions here.😆

One thing common in both set of these audiences is being judgemental and holding their characters to idealistic standards. How are they both different in anyway? I don't see it and still they are at two different ends of spectrum. Fascinating!

Sony had brought amazing shows collaborating with YRF a decade ago. They were truly different concepts and weren't hatke just for the sake of being hatke. But they found no audience and eventually YRF had to shut down their TV wing. And one amazing thing in that was one of the shows was based on TV's favorite topic Weddings! The heorine there was pretty ITV audience level idealistic yet real. And the hero playboy with good heart and humour. So pretty standard tropes were there too Yet it had no buyers because it was dealt with some semblance of reality! So what really works for audience?

Watching Udaariyaan now after all these years(I'm fairly new to the show) and reading the take all over social media has opened up this side of psyche of ITV audience. One thing that still continues is herd mentality on both sides of the opinions(pro and against the show). Which is why TV is still thriving on and following only certain templates.
