Okay so first of I am ALL for a Raavi memory loss. It is such an intriguing story prompt because of the intensity it brings along. A pining Shiva in agony, a confused Raavi and a grieving family over Shiva's hurt because let's face it Raavi will always be last priority. Even Kanta Kaki comes prior to her in Kandya house. A memory loss story line gives Shiva the much needed time to ponder over his actions and finally redeem himself.
Which is why I was super excited in the A/N itself. Like Yoohoooooo excited.
The first paragraph itself took my heart away. Worded so beautifully. I have always struggled with beginnings yk? Like what should I write in the very first line / paragraph that would grasp my reader's attention and make them drown. This was a good example of it. It got me hooked.
The way he answered Raavi's name going way back up until the one her birth parents gave her made me see how anxious he was in this scene. So beautifully hidden but right in the FRONT. Makes sense?
The momentary relief he felt even though she was in the hospital speaks volumes.
The 'He had found his Raavi' marks an end to his longing and his dread takes a backseat. It was brilliant to oscillate between these two emotions. Couldn't have asked for a better pouring out of the heart.
And then there's our Dobi still trying to look pretty in a hospital gown, something you'd not expect right? But she's right there. Raavi noticing the pain in his eyes after hearing the echo was something very overwhelming. Truly 'Dil Ka Rishta' if you ask me. I don't know how much truth this holds or if it is even possible but reading about 'The mind forgets while the heart remembers the warmth' has me in awe. I mean always. I do not have an iota of idea if its true because never in my life I have experienced this kind of warmth for myself, but if it is true then its something intricately pure.
Her subconsciousness guiding her moves and words along the way while she ranted and he heard with no care in the world about who stood around them was such a SHIVI thing. I didn't know it could happen so soon but glad it did. The last line had me going mad though...WHO ENDS ON A CLIFFY AND THEN HYPES IT UP FOR MY POOR HEART??!

Ritu🤗! You know? Everyone has such a different khayali pulao for this trope? I wasn't expecting that until the comments started coming in, really...😳 I agree about the potential of this trope and your other points, but personally, I don't feel like the family on the show would be able to grieve even their own son's loss. They're all so insensitive, so NOT empathetic, you know? I can imagine Suman saying something along the lines of bala tali very easily. So I'm really thinking something more along the lines of Raavi being unbiased about her decisions regarding the family. Doing only what is right, and doing just enough. 👍🏼
I'm glad you were hooked to it right from the start! The name thing was supposed to be all about an 'it's okay she's not mine to the world, but please let her be safe' thing. Also, super glad you feel that the emotions were all in the right place! I was pretty confused and wondered if I should just rewrite the second half completely for a while there before I decided to just post.
Now, coming to Raavi! Losing memories doesn't mean you've lost YOU. You're just going to be very unsure and second guess yourself probably, and that overpowers the sense of YOU and muscle memory. Because there are no facts to back anything up. I feel like the Dil ka Rishta thing is probably true, you know? Post NEET, when I was falling into depression slowly and was like super super stressed? I don't remember things from back then. Crazy things that my parents swear I did, but I can't remember even traces of them happening. Not even echoes of them. But I remember things my parents did, my best friend said. Stress induced amnesia much? Probably. But Dil Ka Rishta kind of pulls through all of that and sticks to you, you know😆? The romantic kind of it, though? I'd love to find out one day as well!
Again, losing your memory doesn't mean you've lost YOU. The behavior you've developed is going to still stay intact, probably. Even medically speaking. So Shivi fighting, which is basically muscle memory for them, was something I didn't really think twice about writing. 🤪
You want something angsty? This part itself was supposed to be much more angsty, but I reigned it in to give a comic element to Raavi's POV of things. But maybe the next part, then! 😆
