(Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua)

India eye a record-extending fifth U19 World Cup title when they take on England in the final of the ongoing edition at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North-South, Antigua.

India brushed aside Bangladesh in the quarterfinals last week, before thrashing Australia by 96 runs in the semis earlier this week. England, on the other hand, has played just one final previously, and lifted the title 24 years back.

Ahead of the summit clash, let's take a look at how India could line up against England in the 2022 U19 World Cup final:

India's U19 setup is regarded as one of the best in the world and thus in every ICC Under 19 World Cup, the team is expected to outperform others. India's colts never fail to impress the fans with their performance in the mega event as this is the fourth consecutive WC final for the Boys in Blue. However, it was not a cakewalk for the Yash Dhull-led Indian team in this edition of the WC, as they were hit by Covid 19 just after their first game in the tournament. Fighting against the odds, India stormed into the final without dropping a game!

India Playing 11 :

All the players are new to us. So, a brief introduction here friends.

India Under 19

Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Harnoor Singh, SK Rasheed, Yash Dhull (c), Nishant Sindhu, Dinesh Bana (wk), Rajangad Bawa, Kaushal Tambe, Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Vicky Ostwal, Ravi Kumar

---

Angkrish Raghuvanshi

Angkrish Raghuvanshi could only manage 6 runs against Australia in the semi-final. However, India's leading run-getter in the tournament so far is expected to retain his place in the playing. Raghuvanshi has scored 278 runs in 5 games, averaging 55.6, so far. He is also fourth in the overall list of run-scorers in the ongoing tournament.

2. Harnoor Singh

Just like his opening partner, Harnoor Singh also failed to impress against Australia. The southpaw hasn't showcased the same prowess that he had shown during the lead-up to the tournament. However, the summit clash against England would be the perfect occasion to finally leave his stamp on the tournament.

3. Shaik Rasheed

So far in this tournament, India has done quite a lot of chopping and changing in their top and middle-order. However, vice-captain Shaik Rasheed, on multiple occasions, has demonstrated that he is the right man for the No.3 slot.

4. Yash Dhull (capt.)

The leader of the current crop, Yash Dhull place in the playing XI is a no brainer. With India in a tricky situation in the semis, Dhull led from the front, slamming a run-a-ball 110, and laid the foundation of his team's victory. He will hope to replicate his exploits, if not better it, in the final against England.

5. Raj Bawa

Raj Bawa is India's second-highest run-getter in the ongoing tournament, having amassed 217 runs in four matches at an average of over 72. Bawa did not get a chance to bat in the semi-finals and will hope to score big again if the opportunity arrives this time.

6. Rajvardhan Hangargekar

Rajvardhan Hangargekar has been a breath of fresh air so far for the Indian team. Apart from his exploits with the ball, Hangargekar has shown signs of being a lethal finisher with the bat. He has been pretty economical in the tournament and has also chipped in with some crucial runs for the team.

7. Dinesh Bana (wk)

Dinesh Bana is likely to keep the wickets and retain his place in the playing XI. Bana has been pretty good with his glovework and looks like a bright future prospect. Though he hasn't batted that much so far, his four-ball 20 against Australia should be enough to justify his place.

8. Dinesh Sindhu

Dinesh Sindhu has been one of the leaders in the group and even led the team when Yash Dhull had to sit out the game against Ireland due to COVID-19. Known for his economical bowling, Sindhu can also swing his bat if needed.

9. Kaushal Tambe

India have plenty of depth in their batting and Kaushal Tambe's presence down the order only adds to their strength. Kaushal has been excellent with the ball, despite not picking many wickets so far. He is likely to be retained in the team.

10. Vicky Ostwal

Vicky Ostwal has delivered the goods with the ball so far in the tournament. He is India's leading wicket-taker with 12, including a five-for, and will look to add to that tally in the final.

11. Ravi Kumar

Ravi Kumar's in-swinger, which got the better of Australia's in-form batter, Teague Wyllie, in the semis, was one of the best deliveries one has seen. Though he has bagged just six wickets so far, he has bowled some unplayable deliveries in the tournament.

_________________

Like India, England too remain unbeaten in the tournament.

England (playing 11): 1 George Thomas, 2 Jacob Bethell, 3 Tom Prest (capt), 4 James Rew, 5 William Luxton, 6 George Bell, 7, Rehan Ahmed, 8 Alex Horton (wk), 9 Thomas Aspinwall, 10 James Sales, 11 Joshua Boyden.

India's U19 setup is regarded as one of the best in the world and thus in every ICC Under 19 World Cup, the team is expected to outperform others.

Let us have a look at India's journey in the ICC U19 World Cup 2022. 😃

India vs South Africa - Vicky Ostwal spins India to victory.

A winning start to India U19's World Cup campaign as they beat SA U19 by 45 runs. Vicky Ostwal takes 𝟱-𝟮𝟴 while Raj Bawa takes 4-47

After getting bowled out for a below-par score of 232, India was expecting a magical spell from one of their bowlers. Left-arm spinner Vicky Ostwal raised his hand and bowled a super spell where he picked a five-wicket haul in his quota of 10 over by giving away just 28 runs. Ostwal was backed by all-rounder Raj Bawa, who bowls right-arm medium pace. Raj clinched a four-wicket haul to kick start India's campaign on high with a 45-run win over South Africa.

------------

India vs Ireland - Harnoor Singh powers India to 174-run win!

After winning the opening match Indian team received a major blow of the field as the team was hit by many Covid-19 cases ahead of the Ireland game. India's captain and vice-captain were among the list of positive players, yet the team manages to overpower Ireland, thanks to a brilliant batting display by Harnoor Singh well supported by Angkrish Raghuvanshi.

-------------

India vs Uganda - Record-breaking century by Raj Bawa helps India register 326-run win

Yet another comprehensive victory for India U19 as they beat Uganda U19 by a massive 326 runs in their final Group B game. Nishant Sindhu takes 4/19. Earlier, Raj Bawa smashed 162 * & A Raghuvanshi scored 144.

India's regular captain Yash Dhull and vice-captain Shaik Rasheed, were still in quarantine as India geared up to play their third match of the WC. Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Raj Bawa slammed centuries to guide India towards a big total. Raj's record-breaking 162 run knock in just 108 balls was the highlight of the match while stand-in captain Nishant Sindhu also claimed a four-wicket haul in the match in which India registered a 326-run win.

________

India vs Bangladesh - Ravi Kumar shines as India beat Bangladesh to enter semifinal

It was revenge time for India U19 as they were up against Bangladesh U19 - the team that thrashed Priyam Garg's side in the last edition of the WC. India's left-arm pacer Ravi Kumar removed Bangladesh's three top-order batsmen to reduce them to 14/3. The Tigers' somehow managed to reach past the 100 run mark and set a below-par target of 112 runs against in-form Indian batters. Ever after a brave show by Ripon Mondol, who picked a four-wicket haul, India stormed into the semifinal with a five-wicket win over Bangladesh.

--------------

India vs Australia - Yash Dhull plays captain's knock to guide India to final

From 37/2 to 241/3, a century by captain Yash Dhull and a 94-run knock by Shaik Rasheed powered India to a strong total of 290/5 in 50 overs.

India were not complacent as they knew that Australia has the never say die attitude. The bowlers were hitting the right spots from the word go. Ravi Kumar gave India a solid start and claimed two wickets haul while Vicky Ostwal was the peak of the bowlers as the picked three key wickets for India. Nishant Sindhu, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, and Kaushal Tambe also chipped in with the ball. India managed to beat Australia by 96 runs to storm into the final of ICC U19 World Cup 2022.

Eight finals and four trophies in 14 editions make India the most successful team in the Under-19 World Cup history.

Yash Dhull led India U19 team aim to continue India's rich legacy in the prestigious Under-19 World Cup. The Boys in Blue would be eyeing to lift their fifth title in the marquee series when they take on England U19 colts in the final.

Yash Dull and Co.will aim to dominate the Under-19 World Cup circuit aiming for another trophy when they take on England at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium here.

India has had a rather smooth run into the final despite a massive off-the-field setback when skipper Dhull and his deputy Shaik Rasheed missed two of the three league games due to COVID-19.

Dhull, who had the worst symptoms among the infected players, has lived up to his highly-rated talent in the three innings, he has played so far including the sublime hundred in the semifinal.

Rasheed has also shown his brilliance with the bat and is certainly the one to watch out for in the future.

Opener Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Harnoor Singh were extra cautious in their approach in the semifinal against Australia and the duo will need to change their approach for the summit clash.

What makes India's bunch of teenagers look the part is their unexpected maturity.

The way Dhull and Rasheed batted after a poor start against Australia was a lesson in pacing the innings.

Only a few out of the current lot are likely to graduate to the highest level in the years to follow, but in the short term, a special performance on Saturday afternoon can land them a life-changing IPL deal at the upcoming mega auction.⭐️

Virat Kohli, who went on to become a world-beater after captaining India U-19 to the title in 2008, gave a pep talk to the class of 2022 on how to approach the high-pressure final.

They face England, a team which last reached the title clash way back in 1998 when it won its sole trophy till date.

After a tense finish in the semifinal against Afghanistan, England will be more than keen to end their title drought of the last 24 years.
