This is my first attempt in writing I’m not sure how it has turned out and how I’ve written. please let me know in comments below. I would love to improve. Hope you’ll like it.
Kapoor Mansion was lit with decoration and lights for Ram’s birthday. Priya with the help of Ram’s friends and her family managed to prepare for a very lavish party as Ram likes for his special day. But she had something else also in her mind to surprise Ram.
Vedika, Nandini and Shubham were shocked to see the preparation done by Priya and were not happy with turn of events. But thought of taking the credit for the party irrespective.
Ram came back from office to find the lights to the house switched off.
“Priya? Tarun! Why are the lights off?“ he stumbled on something and was looking for the switch when the lights went on.
“Happy Birthday Ram” screamed everyone in unison.
Ram got so elated seeing everyone he loved together just to make his day special.
Nandini and Vedika ran towards Ram to wish him. Vedika hugged Ram irking all of Ram’s friends and Sara.
“Happy Birthday Ram. How did you like the surprise? Nandini Aunty, Shubham and I were awake the whole night to do all the preparation “ said Vedika
This got Priya’s attention, she felt hurt would be an understatement. She wanted to make Ram feel special because that’s what he’s been doing for her and her family. This was the day she wanted to do something for him and Vedika took all the credit and what shook her the most was Nandini and Shubham didn’t even utter a single word to clarify.
Priya went back to her room dejected thinking why didn’t anyone tell Ram that all of that was a lie. And why on the earth did Vedika took all of the credit. What good can she gain out of it?
Priya was standing near the window looking out, when she felt someone’s presence beside her. She turned around to find Ram standing really close to her.
“Mr Kapoor, you scared me” shrieked Priya.
“Why did you come up here? It’s my birthday, don’t you think you should be my side?” Said Ram.
“It’s nothing, I just came here to get my phone. Come let’s go downstairs” told Priya.
She moved aside to leave the room when Ram held her hand and pulled her back.
“Mr Kapoor, what happened?” Said Priya
“Thankyou so much Priya” Ram said while hugging Priya.
Priya was taken aback by his sudden action and their closeness. Ram kept hugging her and Priya stood their shocked.
Ram broke the hug and looked at her , she quickly gained her composure from such sudden proximity and looked at Ram again.
“Priya, I’m sorry that Vedika took credit for what you and everyone else did. I can’t thank you enough for doing this. I’m so happy right now that I can’t tell you. It’s the best party someone has ever thrown for me. You really give the best surprises” said Ram happily.
“But who told you that I did all this? “ questioned Priya.
“ No one had to tell me. To begin with no one in my family would actually remember my birthday for that matter and I didn’t mind because I wanted to keep them happy and I wasn’t getting any younger to be celebrating my birthday every year. Plus we used to have so many parties that I was okay with not having one on my birthday. Also who throws a party for their own birthday knowing people don’t remember and I’m purposely reminding them for the same. I usually would go out with my friends to the farmhouse and you know enjoy with them. You know how horrible of a cook Bri is but she used to make a cake for me every year. Adi, Kunal, Vikrant and I would sing and dance to old songs the whole night. That was enough of celebration in itself. But when I entered house today I knew that there’s someone who really went out of her way to do this and really cared for my happiness. You know Priya that made me feel so content. That I’m unable to express that feeling to you. That I have someone whose there for me, whose putting efforts for me. Thankyou Priya” Ram said with his eyes glistening with tears.
Priya’s eyes moistened and she hugged Ram sobbing lightly.
Ram grinned and held her from her waist hugging her tightly.
“Mr Kapoor, I can’t breathe “ said Priya smiling.
“ Madam, someone told me a few days back that they don’t like hugging and if I’m getting that opportunity obviously I’m going to take it all in” said Ram
Priya smiled at him and they both went down to join the party.
“Ram where were you? Everyone was looking for you to cut the cake” said Vedika
“Oh yes I’m sorry. Come Priya” he held her hand and everyone was standing around to cut the cake.
Vedika felt jealous seeing Ram and Priya happy together. She thought this is the moment where she will show Priya the video of Ram proposing to her and then sending her back to her mothers house.
After the cake was cut, everyone started dancing and enjoying the party. Vedika went upto Ram asked him for a dance and he looked at Priya who smiled at him so he reluctantly went with Vedika to dance.
Vedika tried to get closer to Ram, but Ram was busy staring at his wife. Brinda saw this and went to Priya to get her to the dance floor.
The moment Ram saw Priya coming towards him. He excused himself from Vedika and took Priya’s hand for a dance.
He held her close and they kept dancing on the slow beats of song.
“Mr Kapoor, if you don’t mind me asking. How close are you and Vedika as friends?” Said Priya while matching his steps.
“ Priya, it’s a bit complicated than it seems. I’ve been meaning to talk to you about this but then something or the other comes up. But to answer your question right now in the simplest words would be. She’s just a good friend and I will always have kind regards for her and Shashi. And I hope they sort their misunderstandings and she gets back to her family. But why do you ask suddenly?” Asked Ram calmly.
“Nothing I asked generally, the way she talks about you and how you two danced together. So just like that” said Priya.
“ Oh Priya, there’s nothing to be jealous about. She’s just a friend. I didn’t know you like me so much “ laughed Ram.
“I’m not Jealous. Who said I’m jealous? I’m not Jealous “ complained Priya.
“ By the way, you noticed everything but your husbands eyes on you the whole time” winked Ram.
Priya blushed and left Ram alone on the stage. Ram grinned looking at her reaction.
Vedika was fuming with anger that Ram was not giving her any attention. So she went upto Priya who was standing in a corner looking at everyone enjoying the party. While Ram was busy meeting some guests.
“Priya, do you have a moment?” Asked Vedika
“Yes Vedika, do you need anything? “ asked Priya.
“No, there’s something that I’d like to show you” told Vedika.
She showed the video of Ram proposing to Vedika.
Priya looked at the whole video with a straight face. Once the video got over she looked over at Vedika and smiled a little.
“Wow Vedika, nice video” Priya told Vedika before making her way to her room.
Vedika smiled wickedly thinking her plan worked on Priya and now she’s going to ask Ram about it and once he’s going to confess she’s going to go back.
Priya sat on her bed and kept thinking about the video that Vedika showed. She kept thinking what was the motive behind showing the video when she’s married to Shashi.
Everyone has a past and so does Mr Kapoor. Obviously it would have been better if I knew it before but it’s not like Mr Kapoor didn’t try telling me. Honestly, it doesn’t matter because it’s in past but why did this come up suddenly.
Before she could think further. Ram walked inside the room smiling.
“ What a fun evening it was. I had so much fun today. What happened to you? “ asked Ram
“I was waiting for you, I have something else also for you “ told Priya.
She went to the corner of the room and picked up the bouquet of roses she got for him. She went upto where Ram was standing and then went on her knees to give it to Ram.
Ram got startled by her action.
“ Priya, what are you doing? Why are you sitting on your knees” asked Ram
“Have you not gone on your knees for someone before” questioned Priya.
Ram kept staring at her quizzically before going ahead and making her stand straight.
(Flashback: When Ram gave flowers to Vedika and how happy she got)
“Mr Kapoor, I know about Vedika and your past. And I’ve no problem with it. Even I had my past and it did came up abruptly but I was relieved that you knew everything about me. I’m not questioning you as to why you didn’t tell me before. Because I know you tried telling me and I stopped you because I didn’t want to know about it. There’s only one thing that bothered me. Time and again me and my family was questioned about my relationship with Neeraj and how’s he’s still in my life as my brother in law. But how’s your case different than mine. Even your past is in front of us at all times. In fact she’s staying with us in the same house right now. I’m okay with that because she’s a friend to you but what I’m not okay with is constantly telling me things about your past. Because I don’t want you to get upset by listening to all that. Even I had my past and it boils my blood to even talk about it now. There’s a reason why we haven’t spoken about it because we have come to an understanding where we know what can hurt the other one. And I don’t want to hurt you by your past constantly knocking our door. I know she knows you better than I would because I’ve known you for a lesser time but one thing I know that you think about everyone’s happiness but yours and I want to think about your happiness and I don’t want this negativity around you. I’m sorry if I’ve said too much, I just couldn’t keep it inside me” said Priya
Ram stood their dumbfounded, thinking who told Priya about this as he wanted to be the one to tell her the truth. Nonetheless she’s not okay with Vedika being here because she doesn’t want me to hurt. Ram stood there not knowing what to say or do. After a brief moment he said
“ Priya, I’m sorry I didn’t want you to know like this. I wanted to be the one to tell you things. Also I understand you being bothered by Vedika’s presence here and I’ll take care of it. Trust me. But please be rest assured that she’s just a friend. “
Priya nodded and they both changed to their night dress before laying on the bed thinking about the event that took place today.
Ram’s thoughts
(Who could’ve told Priya about it. I did assure Priya that Vedika is just a friend but have I moved on? The more I think about it the only answer I have is that I’m happy for Vedika and Shashi and I’m glad I got someone like Priya to share my life with who values my happiness over others. Whose been doing things that my own family has never done. Someone I can come to after my long day at work. I never realised how lonely I was until Priya came and how she’s changed my life by just being there with me. I told Vedika that I’m never going to move forward and will always be in love with her. I’m going to see her tomorrow and will tell her the truth. I don’t want her to be in dark too)

The next morning both Priya and Ram were getting ready for the day.
Priya was standing in front of the mirror getting ready when she felt something went inside her eyes and it started to itch badly. Seeing Priya struggling so much.
He went near her
“Priya, don’t rub your eyes so much. It’ll itch more. Let me see. Please let me see” Ram said.
Ram stood close to her and started helping her. Once he got the thing out of her eyes. He kept staring at her lovingly. His hands caressed Priya’s tresses which was blocking him to stare at her glowing face. They were lost in their own world.
Meanwhile, Vedika was going to Ram’s room to see how her planned work and how Priya would have gone back hurt and Ram would have realised that he’s still in love with her but when she entered the room and saw Priya and Ram so close lost in each other’s eyes. Her breath hitched seeing how could her plan backfire.
“Oh I’m sorry. I’ll come later “ said Vedika
Both Ram and Priya startled by Vedika’s voice broke apart and looked at Vedika.
“ No, it’s okay Vedika. What happened?” Asked Ram avoiding Priya’s gaze
“ Breakfast is ready” said Vedika
Both Ram and Priya nodded before going down to join the family.
Nandini and Shubham were shocked to see Ram and Priya together since Vedika told them about her plan and even they thought it’ll work out for them.
After they all had breakfast. Ram and Priya were about to leave the house for work when Priya excuse herself to get her bag.
“ How did you like the party Ram?” Asked Vedika
“ I really liked it. Priya really did a great job. Vedika i want to talk to you about something “ said Ram
Vedika nodded allowing him to speak further
“ I have got our guest house cleaned up for you. I understand that it’s been long and even you would want some privacy from us to think properly about you and Shashi. You can stay their as long as you like and we are always here. Incase you need anything you can call Mom or Priya and they’ll help you with it”
Both Vedika and Nandini were shocked beyond belief.
“ But Ram we have got so many rooms here. Plus it’s good to have someone around. Vedika is like a family only so what’s the harm of letting her stay here” interrupted Nandini
“Mom, I know. But we have our own little things to deal with everyday and I don’t want Vedika to get involved into all this rather than thinking about forgiving Shashi and moving back with him” said Ram
“ Ram, Priya only asked me to stay here so that Shashi realises his mistake” said Vedika
“ I know that’s why I want you to be comfortable and think about everything with a clear mind. Tarun would help you in shifting and I’ve given him the keys”. Said Ram
Priya walked down the stairs but no one seemed to notice her and she could see few upset faces and she couldn’t figure out what happened. But before she could ask anyone
“ Vedika, one more thing. I remember telling you that I’ve loved only you and would always do. Even though I knew you agreed to marry Shashi. I just want to clarify, even I’m married now and I’m not saying that I love Priya right now but I don’t want that feeling to hold me back if I ever start doing it. I just want to let you know that I’m really happy how you moved on with Shashi and I guess it’s time for me to move ahead in my life with Priya. I want to give myself a fair chance to make my marriage work and I’ll do whatever it takes. I just wanted to be clear on my part and therefore I decided to let you know about it” said Ram
“ Is this why you are sending me away? That you won’t be able to hide your feelings for me if I’ll be around?” Said Vedika
“ No, I’m sending you away because I won’t appreciate Neeraj coming and staying near my wife. In the similar manner I don’t want my past to stay near my future “ said Ram
He looked around to see everyone shocked and rooted to their spots even Priya
“Come Priya, let’s leave” said Ram
Ram held Priya’s hand and they both walked out of the house.
