I was waiting for you to make your daily appearance here, Madhu.

Guys, Madhu is a treasure trove of information on the golden classics and an artist herself. She has contributed her enviable knowledge extensively to this thread! ❤️ And we're grateful for her presence here!

My Dad told me this as he was a big Sadhana fan in his college days😆

I know and I wondered why because in Hum Dono and Asli Naqli where she didn't have that haircut she looked perfectly lovely!

My dad liked her too - and he didn't like too many actresses who debuted in the 60s. I think it was because he said she reminded him of Nutan (or Newton as he called her! 😆)

Oh wow! That’s awesome. Looking forward to reading her posts and soon will catch up on her past posts as well.
I don’t have much information to share, just happen to be fan of the songs of that era and I have stopped repeatedly listening to BW songs since 2010. One time is more than enough to give me a headache😕

Omg same. I don't know what songs are popular anymore since I don't even listen. And there's no radio to blare out the latest songs all the time here 😆

I used to watch the reality singing competitions before, but not anymore since no one sings these classics at all 😒.

Here is a wonderful song ---

Maine tum ko aate dekha,

Apni jaan ko jaate dekha

Such beautiful lines. Not a single extraneous word – just perfect. When Alka sings these lines, the background music grinds to a halt. The magic and aura that these lines create is just awesome.

MM Kreem’s music makes you want to get up and dance. The song is so full of energy – you suddenly start feeling happy about everything around you. It begins with a soft and mellow note, and picks up speed and energy as it progresses and it ends with a shehanai piece. What other instrument can have a celebratory mood like shehnai? The song ends on a perfect note!

The song celebrates life – the lady is happy that her lover is arriving and she finds the whole world celebrating with her. The mukhda summarizes her feelings very well.

Tum aaye to aaya mujhe yaad, gali mein aaj chand nikala

Jaane kitne dinon ke baad, gali mein aaj chand nikala

Again here today with a movie which had breathtaking music.

Trivia : 'Mera Saaya' is one of the most known films of 'Sadhana' amongst other masterpieces like- Woh Kaun Thi? or Asli Naqli. While the story maintains the suspense until the very end, all the courtroom drama thrown in between elevates the jitters every viewer feels in the first watch.

It isn't rocket science that when a director asks for a title track for the movie in question, title/name of the movie is already decided beforehand, of which the Music Director is notified so that he/she and the lyricist can work around the words to create a song that matches the story, generally.

Decades ago when the film was still in works Raj Khosla (the director) approached Madan Mohan with an unusual request to create the title track within the day itself because he wanted to shoot a song first to see Sadhana and Sunil Dutt together. The request was unusual because the story was set, the cast was set and the location was set but the movie did not have any name yet. When Madan Jee went ahead and asked the lyricist Raja Mehndi Ali Khan to write the song, the writer equally perplexed asked for the name of the movie first. No matter what both Madan Jee and Raja Sahab said Raj Khosla was adamant he needed a title track right now.

Fed up from the whole ordeal Madan Jee and Raja Sahab sat down and wrote a song called 'Mera Saaya' so that they could present something to the director. The song blew Raj Khosla's mind the and the movie was named after the song written by Raja Mehndi Ali Khan.

So the song came first here, not the name of the movie and even though it is called the title track for the said film, we really can't say it is that can we? 😆

Song : Naino Mein Badra Chhaye , Aapke Pehlu Mein Aakr Ro Diye, Naino Wali Haye Matwali Ne

Movie : Mera Saaya (1966)

Music : Madan Mohan

Lyrics : Raja Mehndi Ali Khan

Singers : Lata Mangeshkar, Rafi, Lata Again. [In Order]

Ritu 🤗 loved the trivia. So the movie name came from the song 😍

This and Woh Kaun thi are two albums which will stand the test of time

Please write more if you know about other movies or songs.

Even if they do use they butcher it so bad 🥺

Plus ye "Baspan Ka Pyaar" wali generation is doomed. Main keh de rhi hun abhi se. Meri generation hi Chaman hai! 🤔
