Some more songs in Bhimpalasi...

Aaj mere mann mein sakhi from Aan (1952)

Music: Naushad, Lyrics: Shakeel Badayuni, Singer: Lata Mangeshkar

(You can catch a (very brief) glimpse of shirtless Dilip Kumar in this one! ☺️)

Beena madhur madhur kachu bol from Ram Rajya (1943)

Music: Shankar Rao Vyas, Lyrics: Ramesh Gupta, Singer: Saraswati Rane

I cannot identify the actress who's singing on screen, would be grateful if anyone can.

Shobana Samarth (Nutan and Tanuja's mother and Kajol's maternal grandmother) plays Seeta and is shown here lying on the swing. Ram is played by actor Prem Adib.

Priya.. I want to lift you to rock you in my arms for a while ... to show my adoration for these songs. Bhimpalasi is one of the most beautiful ragas, is poignant and filled with longing. We traditionally performed it during the late afternoon hours, up to sunset. This raga belongs to the Kafi thaat. Its vadi (most important note) is ma, and samvadi (second most important note) is Sa. iIt s an audhav – sampurna (consists of 5 notes in Arohana and 7 notes in Avarohana) raga from the Hindustani music tradition. It is one of the most used ragas in popular music today, esp in the earlier classic songs from Hindi films.

I will be back to write more on this Raga.

Here are a few more Bhimpalasi rag-based Hindi movie songs from yesteryears. --Kutch Dil Ne Kaha...

palkon ki thandi sej par, sapnon ki pariyaan soti hain

This song was pictured on a Hill station in a early morning Mist. Hrishikesh Mukherjee the film's Director instructed Both the lead actors to get up at 4 a.m in the morning and be ready on the location with their make-up on by 6 a.m.. The song was picturized as soon as the morning light shone through, and the camera would be started rolling. One can observe the early morning mist in some frames.

Another wonderful song in Raag Bhimpalasi --- My favourite Waheeda and Hemanth Kumar.

This is an excellent example of Bhimpalasi. Although the arrangement tends toward the classic side, this is a remarkably chaste interpretation.

Bhimpalasi is one of my favourite raagas to perform! All these signs are absolutely beautiful!!

O beqaraar dil... Oohhh ... how much I love this😭🤗

Kuch Dil ne kaha... 😭 I have it's melody in my head...

Dil ke tukde tukde kar ke... And khilte hai Gul yahan

I love these songs 🤗

Perform? Do you sing classical? 😲

Neha if you get a chance listen to L. Shankar play his double violin on Raag Aberi, (Bhimpalasi) it’s the best thing I ever heard. I have an eargasm I s2g

I have learnt Sugam Sangeet for a few years in school, also played Harmonium.

I'll definitely listen to L. Shankar!🤗
