Chapter 16:

Their life was going smoothly however past one month Aryan and Imlie hardly spend anytime together.

Aryan was too vested in his work and planning new office set up in London. He announced one day that he wil be leaving for london and it might be month or two

he would be back. They couldnt even say proper good bye to each other. Imlie was disappointed but she did not complain. She understands completely how much Aru

was stressed.

They had their first married couple fight on the video call. " Suno na, I have an exicting news. You know that article that i want to write on Human Trafficking?

I finally found some sources that I am going to go meet. Its really shady place but do not worry am going with that new hire , whats his name oh yes Nikhil.

He is cute by the way" she added casually. "Madam, first of all you will not do such thing that too with a new hire?!"

"What is your problem Sir, is it me calling Nikhil cute evoking your jealous soul or me trying something new"

"imlie" he was trying not to get angry. " We have specialied investigative journalist you can hand over any information you have to them." "No , why are you not supporting me?

You always do why not on this? I am doing something new , i want to grow and this interests me" with pleading voice.

"Imlie its dangerous, we do not know what those places are , who those people are how will they react. Its not easy, you have to go down and get dirty to extract"

he was agitated to even think she being in danger.

"I am doing it and Nikhil haina. Let me learn!Please , please please" with puppy eyes. "No" he simply said. "You know what Aru i dont care . I am going to do it.

Anyways you are there busy with work, i get lonely this will occupy me. Everything will be new , i will be learning why dont you understand. I am going to do it whether you like it or not" Her voice was angrier .

"You will not do such thing , I am the boss"

"Oh wow, suna rahe ho mujhe? That i have to do as you say? Sorry , you forgot am your wife and now half owner to the company" She raised her eyebrows knowingly.

"Imlie i said No means No. You will have to bear the consequences"

"What is the big deal Aru past 15 minutes we are just arguing. Don't you have faith in me? Please" she asked one last time.

Aru was furious. "You will do no such thing. Yes you are the owner too but more than half of decisions are made by me. If you go against me Imlie, then.." he said with warning.

"Then what huh?" She dared him. "Then me and you are done.I will not talk to you Imu. I cannot risk your life. My answer will remain No. Throw tantrums do whatever you want but you are not doing such thing."

"how do you know there is danger.." He cut her off "I already said what I had to...Leave all this what is for dinner and what happen to your finger?"

"Bye Aru" Imlie cut the phone. She was angry and disappointed. He dare threaten her ! Me and him done? how dare he who is he to decide.

Why is he being such a jerk..Imlie was in dilemma. One side she really wanted to expose some big names by investigating the racket and one side her love, her everything. She understand he is worried.

Contemplating whole night, she made a decision. She will go against Aru, he just said that in anger right?. He will understand once he is here she will convince him but she also knew Aru is man of his words.

He can go back on his words for her am sure, he loves me she thought.

Lots of thoughts rushing in her mind.

She got an idea, since he is not physically here she will work overtime and try to gather all evidences, information she can before he gets back to India.

Only problem she how she going to keep straight face and hide from Aru. Another problem is Nikhil , he is new hire am sure he would not want to piss of his boss. She will talk to him tomorrow, with determination Imlie went to sleep.

Chap 17

It didnt take time to convince Nikhil the next day. He was up for it. They discussed the whole day and planned their mission. Imlie thought its so filmy so exciting to rebel that to against the most scariest man in her life.

They reikied the place even talked to couple locals. They went to meet a source in a slum area. When they were walking back to the main road where the car was parked they saw group of girls sitting and tearing up. They were about ages 14-15 .She went upto them. “Kya hua”she gently touched one of the girls shoulder. “Thik ho? Kuch chaye?” Girls shook their heads.

One of the girl blurted”hume nai jana didi nai jana” “kaha”curiously asked Imlie.

“Mera baap piyakad hai mujhe bechna chata hai didi. Yeh meri saheliya mujhe samjha rahi hai ke hum kuch nai kar sakte. Humari zindagi aisi hi hai. Aisa thodi na hota hai didi. Koi chiz thodi na hai ke utha ke de dia.” She cried , her eyes were pleading Imlie to help her somehow.

She hugged her” sssh sssh beta please. Will see what i can do. Please chup ho jao. Ek kaam karo abhi ghar jao normal rehna kal mujhe wapas yahi milna. Aur ek bat batao tumhe pata hai kaha bhejne wala hai tumhe ya phir aadmi ka naam”. “Chincholi mein kohli hai waha milne wala hai mere baap ko wo log do din ke bad”

“Tumhara naam puchna hi bhul gai? Kya hai ? “ she cupped her cheeks gently. She feels awful , wish she could just take her away from here. But there are too many witnesses here.

“Mitali”

“Do what i said ok. I will see you tomorrow.” She kissed her cheeks and hugged her. The girls left little relief on their face.

Nikhil witnessed everything he too felt same as Imlie. “Listen, this might be it this way we can get more information and also i can save her.”

“But Imlie we are not police this is too risky. We can go report it.” “Yes we can but think about it this is more adventurous plus i already promised the girl i will help her.”

“Nikhil yar i can catch then red handed it will boost our article 100 percent more and dont think am selfish am thinking only about article. I couldnt see the pain in that girls eye. And am going to do what i promised. “ Nikhil shook his head defeated. “You and boss are ditto”

Imlie looked at him frown.

“Thank you btw we have gathered lot of information coming with me to shady area meeting really creepy people i have learned alot . Not sure why Aryan was so agitated it wasnt that hard.” She shrugged. They left.

Next day , Imlie told Nikhil to stay at office and prepare rough draft of the article. He wanted to go with her, he really cared for her but she ordered him as a boss.

Imlie quickly met Mitali and asked her to do as she says. She told him to do what her baba says. She and nikhil will follow him. Imlie realized the seriousness of the situation so she decided to involve the police.

Police lauded her and told her three police will accompany her in civil clothes. Everything happened according to their plan and they busted the ring. Imlie was thankful. That night Aryan called her “ yar what the hell is wrong with you Imlie,” he was angry . Did she get caught?! “ calm down will you”

“No i wont calm down you have not attending my calls or text . Where are you so busy?”

“ are baba me and nics are excited about this couple of articles on page 3 and also one on global warming. “ “you guys are on nickname terms now?”

He was jealous imlie could feel it in his tone.

Aryan felt awful and jealous at same time. It was his fault he was her best friend but he been so focused on work that he forgot his Imlie’s loneliness.

She broke his thought ,” he is really chill Aru. Almost like you. Actually no he is sweetheart, no anger issues, middle class next door guy,” she looked on dreamily

“Imlie you are testing my patience. But you know what am glad you have someone to talk to. “After a second of silence “i miss you, i need your touch.” Imlie blew him a kiss and they ended their call.

Imlie missed him alot most of the nights she didnt sleep. She did feel a void no doubt. But right now she had an important task ahead. She feels terrible hiding from Aru but maybe he will be proud of her , Imlie thought.

Bus imlie kisi problem mei na pad jaaye... Very nervous for her n how will aryan react if she will fall in any serious problem
