Krantiveer, Khatta Meetha (old film with Rakesh Roshan and Bindiya Goswami), Golmaal (old 1970s film), Aashiqui (1990), are legendary or cult classic films without superstars.

And if we take films which are first films of newbies were not superstars then Love Story, QSQT, KNPH, MPK, Bobby etc are all legendary films without superstars.

Tbh you could add even SKTKS to that list, I wouldn't call it legendary but it was a big hit and most people didn't know any of the leads at all at the point it came out.

In fact loads of films of superstars would come under that category imo because they didn't have the "superstar" tag at the time those films came out, rather the success of those films is what gave them said tag.

You said it.

It is strange how likes of Esha and Uday kept getting chances but the good looking leads of Tum Bin disappeared so badly that they did not even get TV serials.

Rakesh Bapat is the only one who I remember getting one or two serials as a supporting actor but not main lead.

Iqbal Khan from Fun2ssh was another handsome guy who could have done some work if given chances but he had to move to TV as he got no work in films. Even a talented actor like Mohit Raina has got no chances in films except for a role in Uri.

Sandali was pretty enough to get more films. But she got neither films nor TV serials.

When you see instances like these you do notice excessive influence of nepotism and so called networking, 'right connections' and sycophancy in getting work.

Tum Bin is indeed iconic. I still love watching it. It has aged beautifully. One of my favourite movies ever.
