You've made a number of sweeping generalisations here. Anuj's feelings for Anupama and the fact that it's endured unrequited for 26 years has no bearing on his adopted status, I feel. By all accounts, he's made his way in the world on his own ability. His adopted parents' wealth may have give him a leg up, but if you don't have the ability to maintain and multiply that wealth, it can soon disappear. A belief in yourself and the confidence that comes with that belief is what defines you ultimately. You spoke of Indian society rejecting adopted kids, but the truth of the matter is that the wealthier you are, the less people seek to see caste, culture and khandaan.

Anuj loves his sister to bits. That is a given. The guilt he feels for persuading his parents to come out the night of the accident is not tied to that love. It's there and it's a pulsing sore in his heart and it will remain so, sadly. Mukku was the baby of the family who was indulged by all of them. She's spoiled but not malicious from what we've seen so far.

The issue is not of likability but more of WHY was this introduced in the show

There's no reason for this revelation now. It means makers are hell bent on ruining Anuj. Anu has already started the process with her stupid bhashans. Chances are Van will use this new found fact to his full advantage. Writers kiss the ground V walks on.

Anuj is a supporting character and will always be...regardless if adopted. Writers have no intention of sidelining Vanraj.

Anuj go back to US man or entire Shah family will destroy you!!!

I wish he wasn’t adopted because now even Shahs will feel comfortable going for him and may try to justify their bad behavior due to his adoption status. I personally don’t have a problem with Anuj being adopted but I feel that this twist wasn’t really necessary and was used because creators are running out of other ideas. If he is adopted he shouldn’t have said it in front of others I feel because it really isn’t any of their business.

Tbh a thought of Mukku being adopted had crossed my mind at one point but never Anuj.. what a weird track.. maybe they just want to show how Anupama won’t mind even if Anuj does not have any money or something like that.

I dont know. But it seems like each week there is some revelation with Anuj happening.

I also think this scenerio of Anuj being adopted will play a part and help in Samar and Nandini's relationship because Nandini can't be a mother (i think her womb was very badly damaged due to her car accident in the past) as it was revealed during their engagement at the resort and we all know how Baa and Vanraj reacted but came around it.

So one day Samar and Nandini will think of either IVF or even adoption.
