He tried to stop her... her tried so much because he knew that what she is going to do is ruin herself and subject herself to torment all over again by returning to that man. He saw her break down multiple times because of that man, he saw her cry her heart out when no one else did, he saw the sorrow that AKT brought her and he saw her apologise to herself for being with that man. And eve though she may have forgotten that he didn't.

You can see it pained him to let her go but he also respected her as an individual and as an adult who should be able to make her own decisions... even if it means she destroys his heart and her life in the process because that is her CHOICE no matter how wrong he finds it.

But if they didn't change the execution toh numbers nahi badhenge! Same recycled stuff dekhne me logo ko interest nahi hota hai kitni bhi achhi chemistry ho.

Maybe that's why original story had so much audience because execution was good (even though plot was shady imo)
