But he could not sustain the momentum at all and since then not a single Hrithik film has been highest grosser of the year nor an ATBB.

People now talk of Ajay, Akki, Ranbir, Ranveer, Varun. Dream of being next #1 superstar and overtaking Khans remained there and then.

He couldn't save the kInG with Koyla toh 😆

Rakesh Roshan gave a top grosser film Khoon Bhari Maang also. And Karan Arjun, Kishen Kanhaiya, King Uncle, Khudgarz were also hits. Amusing to see father's success as filmmaker being deliberately downplayed to make it look like son saved him and he had only 1 hit before that. Even Hrithik would not tolerate this attempt to ignore successful films of his dad before he made KNPH. If he was a flop or failed filmmaker then SRK and Salman would never have worked with him in Karan Arjun either.

Anyway father and son could not save each other in Kites and had to fudge collections of the last Krissh film for face saving. Sed how even the dad and son duo does not have 100% success record.

Yaadein is his first flop? Were Mission Kashmir and Fiza, released before Yaadein, hits? 🤣

Anyway, Aamir had no releases in 2019 or 2003, 2002, 2004 as he was on a break then. SRK had no release in 2019.

So no point in comparing those years in which one had no competition from seniors.

Just due to pointing out 2002 flop of new millennium's superstar who was supposed to be new emperor of Bollywood. Everyone except SRK, Ajay, Vivek had mostly a bad year in 2002.

Akshaye and Bobby also gave Humraaz which was hit. I think Hungama released in 2002 also?

He wasn't a flop film maker but he was erratic and his success ratio sans Hrithik was significantly lower. Rakesh himself said he took Hrithik because he knew of his talent and that while Hrithik may work with other directors he'll never direct another lead actor. He's not a soft or sentimental man. There's a reason he's filthy rich now and not pre KNPH.

KBH was a superhit. KA which I already mentioned was his lone Blockbuster pre Hrithik. Neither Salman nor SRK were near their peak when he offered them KA. King Uncle was a flop, Koyla was average (so he was 1 for 3 with SRK) but a film that Rakesh himself said lost him money and made him have to mortgage his home and cars for his next film KNPH. Kites wasn't directed by Rakesh but had a record non holiday opening (that's based on star power) - the content didn't carry it (too much English and Spanish). Krrish 3 was 2cr+ footfall blockbuster whether one counted just Hindi or all India. But sure Rakesh has been carrying Hrithik on his back even though he's directed ONE film (Krish 3) with Hrithik in the last 15 years. (a film Hrithik was still doing un-credited associate director work on just as he did in the years before he was the star actor) .
