SRK backs out of IPL performance The King Khan has decided to not perform when his team the Kolkata Knight Riders take on the Mumbai Indians at Eden Garden tonight. "Shah Rukh wanted a huge stage set up at one end of the stadium. This meant that close to 800 seats not being sold to make way for the set up. With the cheapest tickets averaging at 250 rupees this meant a minimum loss of two lakh rupees," says an official on grounds of anonymity. In fact in the lead up to the start of the IPL, Khan was in talks with the Moranis for organizing his performance. "SRK was in discussions with the Moranis and Ganesh Hegde to choreograph and manage his performance. There are going to be a total of nine matches in Eden Gardens in Kolkata – the home ground of his team – where he was supposed to perform live in the break. SRK had suggested erecting a huge stage which would take up almost one entire section in the stands," says our source. As the team owner Khan's Red Chillies large source of income are these ticket sales with a part going to the venue owners. The buzz suggests that ticket sales have been below satisfactory for any of the home matches for SRK's Kolkata Knight Riders which could have prompted the Khan to minimize his costs. This news comes in just a few days after Red Chillies were slapped with a notice to cough up 48 lakhs as tax to the Kolkata Municipal Corporation for the numerous posters and hoardings that have been displayed across the city. | |
