Snape might have protected Harry but he did a lot worse too.. he was the one who constantly taunted Sirius about staying at home, and not doing anything.. he was the one who let it slip that Remus was a werewolf publically costing Remus his job and making him an outcast.. he was the one who enabled Slytherins bullying behavior.. his love for Lily and him protecting Harry doesn't really absolve him of his other mistakes..

remus and snape are opposites in two regards.

Snape was vindictive and hard to get along with. While Remus was nice and friendly to people. Both had been outcasts. Snape has a tough childhood and struggled for acceptance too, much like Remus. Remus found acceptance in James & co. James bullied Snape while Remus did nothing to stop it. Snape found acceptance in Malfoy & co, he was probably with them cuz they made him less vulnerable from being bullied. The way he acted was horrible with other house groups, especially with people like Neville and the teeth incident Panchali pointed out.

While Remus was afraid of being shamed; Snape didn’t care. He bore everyone’s hatred for the greater good. I think Remus was also looking for adventure when he offered to go with Harry. Tonks and her son weren’t the only reason. James’ friends mixed up Harry with his father.. while Snape was more like a guardian to him. He had no interest in befriending him. It was just to protect him. He took at his as his duty.

Also, it’s important to note that the wizarding world was in general harsher than the real world. Look at the Quidich matches & how even Dumbledore handled Harry. Teachers seem to have no qualms about making kids do potentially dangerous things or reprimand them harshly for it. Wizards and Witches are known to get blown up in magic accidents.

I’m surprised when Ginny was snatched by Tom in book 2, none of the teachers were with the siblings to make sure they don’t do anything stupid or even comfort them.

If only Hogwarts had counsellors 🤪

@bold I think the scars ran too deep and both bickered.

But I don’t think it was wrong of Snape to get Remus fired from his perspective.. he was a danger to students… and did hide info.

I’m not saying snape was a nice person. He had issues.

snape absolutely nothing for greater good he did it because of his obsession with a dead woman his only true friend who he abused and drove away

if anyone actually did something for greater good it was remus he died a matry because he geniunely believed in the cause while for snape it was just obsession with lily he did not care for any good

Bickering is one thing.. he knew Sirius wasn't the kind to lay low and was already frustrated.. he literally added fuel to the fire

Absolutely not!! Students safety was the last thing he had in mind when he let it slip that Remus was a werewolf.. he only did it to get back at them for not allowing the arrest of Sirius.. Remus studied at Hogwarts for years.. he taught at the school for a year.. he never harmed anyone.. it wasn't suddenly going to change.. Snape did it out of his teenage stemmed frustration and nothing more

Snape did not care for any greater good.. all his actions were based on his obsession for Lily.. he wouldn't have changed sides and would have continued killing innocents had Voldemort gone for Neville's family.. he protected Harry due to his obsession.. and let's not forget That he literally drove lilly away due to his affiliation with dark arts.. Yes.. James and co bullied him.. he might have sided with Malfoy and co due to acceptance.. but as we saw in that memory, he treated rest of muggle Borns badly.. he abused them too.. only Lily was an exception because he loved her..

He didn't mind killing people during the first war, unless the people were named Lily Evans nee Potter

P. s. I have no idea what's happening, but my friend, who has just watched the movie, made me realize how people are blinded to Snape's misdeeds
