As far as harry and Hermione go, Hermione never showed any romantic interest in harry, snape, draco and whoever they ship her with, she always had a thing for ron and he had for her. Ron did fumble at times but i think he rose to occasion when it mattered. I do like them together and choose to ignore the blackhole of rewrites and fanfiction .

exactly hermione was book smart ron was street smart she knew all the trick in the book but it was ron who worked better under pressure she made him more sensible he made her more fun they were perfect

and remus had his insecurities but he was not coward and certainly not selfish

Remus was ready to put Harry’s life in danger. He didn’t have the guts to be truthful. For what.. social disgrace? And was ready to abandon his wife and kids, he would have gladly run away until Harry blasted him.

James friends were full of problems like he himself was. Maybe good at heart but problematic. Sirius was a man child (we see he grew up abused though) and reckless, Remus had other issues.. Pettigrew… we all know what he did.

While Snape did what he had to, knowing that he spent his life protecting Harry for Lily.. he found out dumbledore was going to sacrifice him. He was ready to be hated by everyone, there was a 💯 chance that no one would have ever found out that he was loyal to dumblodre and was working against Voldemort. But he did what he had to, he had very little incentive.

Harry and his friends were all better versions of the adults.

Also snape couldn’t openly be loving muggle born kids or be nice to them. He was heading a house that was full of death eater kids.

He was unnecessarily mean at times but we only see him through Harry’s eyes which were coloured with hatred. Even when he was actually working in Harry’s favour he is viewed differently by him.

From his perspective they were a bunch of unruly and rule breaking kids getting in trouble all the time. Hermoine set his tone on fire in second book, stole from him in 2nd book; Harry attacked him in 3rd.. in 5th book, the movie seems to show it as an accident but he pried in his pensive.

I won’t say that he didn’t have his issues; but the trio’s behaviour would land them in trouble with most teachers.

when draco enlarged hermione s teeth in goblet of fire instead of punishing him he said and i quote "i see no difference " no snape was awful there is no justification for it none whatsoever no other teacher would have said that

Snape was a terrible guy who was whitewashed beyond belief.. His one-sided love for Lily might have made him protect Harry but he was HORRIBLE to Neville, Harry and EVERY other student not a Slytherin.. He was also a pretty biased teacher.. Yes.. he protected Harry but that really doesn't excuse his behavior with anyone.. he might have been a hero but a very very very very flawed one

as for Remus, he was not selfish per se.. I feel he never expected to be accepted with his werewolf status in the normal society.. That's why he tried to turn away from Tonks.. because he couldn't bring himself to believe that he could have a normal family life.. he did not want to run away from Tonks because of selfishness but more because he didn't know what his child would become.. he was scared.. and he withheld information because he couldn't bring himself to accept that he had done wrong to that one person who trusted him more than anyone else..

Remus was a different kind of selfish...his actions weren't driven by wanting something good for himself.. all the mistakes he did ultimately came down to his insecurities of being an outcast..
