I only watched the Kaira season and just bits of the Naitik/Alshara episodes but at one point YRKKH tried to convey some social messages around consent and female empowerment. Problem is they gave those tracks like lollipops and then went back to their usual regressive shit. It makes me a little mad how they made Aarohi smart and ambitious and then a complete lying immature creep. There are so many ways to have gotten the same storyline by making her flawed but still a worthwhile character. She and Akshara could still have a complicated relationship without her being a despo psycho. She even says to Akshara in your place I would do the same. Develop that struggle between her ambition and her conscience - right now, she is Cinderella’s wicked stepsister.

And this marriage of convenience thing is so unrealistic - marriage is all about physical, mental and emotional intimacy. Aarohi should also clarify those aspects with Abhi - what’s his plan? Loving her aside, will he live in one room with her, have sex with her, children with her, joint finances with her, share problems with her or even speak to her?? Right now he is proposing a wedding, not a marriage.
Even Kartik was neutral towards Vecika and called her his friend, which is why she had hopes. Abhi straight up despises Aarohi and she is so clueless she thinks she has a chance. Aarohi is a doctor, why show her being this delusional and ignorant about the realities of marriage?

The writers are following Ichche Nodee. Anurag wasn't multi dimensional. He too had a one track mind.

Bepannah should have ended with Aditya and Zoya walking away together from her nikaah - after that the show started to go to hell. I read somewhere even Harshad and Jennifer refused to continue the show OTT when given the chance because the writing had got so bad.

I haven't seen Ichche Nodee. I googled it and it sounds awful - if that's where yrkkh is going, looks like I'll be checking out for good.

I wish HC could be in a show like Dhadkan where he could have played a doctor who is a proper three dimensional character. Or one of the Hindi shows on Netflix or Prime. Even Raghav in Mehndi would have suited him more. I guess there's a prestige factor to act in YRKKH because of how long it has managed to run, but this is such a letdown from his previous two roles.

This is nothing - during the Kaira Vedika track, Vedika's doctor friend was a cardiac surgeon/pediatrician/nephrologist/organ transplant specialist combined. In the entire city, if anyone in the Goenka family needed a doctor for anything, she was the only one they could find 🤣

Just happened to come across this thread , and believe me i laughed out load it was witty and funny as hell 🤣

Have never watched yeh rishta before , but yea i agree with bephannah it was really a fantasic show which got ruined after their marriage and unnecessary revenge drama 😭 But i was shocked when i heard HC had chosen Yrkkh for his comeback after long break , but initial episodes where too good and i thought maybe this wont be that bad , but man i couldn't have been more wrong 💔

Both Male and Female Character have no nuances or pretty much basic character development , before professing their love and they expect the audience to watch this very poorly written script just for the sake of actors (on that regard , i would say they were successful since HC was roped in for same purpose i believe 😔and trp has increased for the show as well )

Agree - RS was smart to pick a known face and name after going with newbies for the earlier seasons. Lots of us came running (or running back) to this show just for HC. He has that star power (and I dunno, maybe bills to pay... he hasnt been on tv for years). It's obvious he's giving it 100% as usual but it's been hard to watch. Besides the dumb storyline, instead of relying on his talent and charisma, they are doing annoying things like the weird sound effects around his dialogues (that lion's roar makes me cringe, is the intensity of his acting not enough to convey the anger??) and making him do a backflip when he gains consciousness after being injured in a fire🤔

Maybe it's just me but it's getting a little uncomfortable seeing the constant objectification of his bod (droolworthy tho it is). My friend suggested if we take shots everytime he is shirtless we're all going to end up drunk by the end of some episodes. Sometimes it works (and also it is kinda his trademark since he buffed up) but it's starting to feel a little sleazy like those gross 90s wet white sari movie shots...
