My biased would be Manisha in Dil Se and Ranveer in Lootera. But then again they cannot be truly labelled as antagonists.

I think Suniel Shetty in Dhadkan was an antagonist I rooted for.

Yeah Dhadkan could've been that film.

The forced marriage thing shouldn't be glorified. Although Shilpa's character did move on. But the injustice that happened to Dev does make you feel really bad for him.

We root for him but not against the protagonists because they really don't have a fault in all this. The father should have paid the price but he never realizes his mistake.

Instead whatever he did gets glorified.

I think nobody has mentioned Fan on this thread. That is one movie where protagonist is wrong and antagonist is right. There really wasn't any fault of Aryan Khanna.

No celebrity is going to tolerate his fans doing crazy stuff for them which could harm others.

We can say PC in Don series and Abhishek in Dhoom 2 and 3 were the antagonists and we should've rooted for them.

Amitabh Bachchan is the pioneer of anti hero roles in the BW cinema. He made them not just stylish and attractive but also so sympathetic that the audiences were compelled to root for him in those roles. His roles in Saudagar, Namak Haraam in the beginning followed by Trishul, Deewar, Don, Shakti etc at the peak of his career and Sarkar in the recent years- come to mind when talking about anti heros.

Shakaal (Shaan) - an avant garde who never shied from trying the groundbreaking , a foresighted shrewd who always kept two steps ahead of adversaries & a fierce nemesis whose foes would never get away save for intervention by the none less than the Divine .

Should have been rather given charge of POK , Balochistan or CPEC desk , sad what a waste .

Darr - SRK acted really good and being younger he looked better with Juhi than Sunny. I do not endorse stalking, murder and harassment though. I strictly like it for SRK's acting and chemistry with Juhi.

Mr India - Amrish Puri was so awesome as Mogambo that I never disliked him at all.

Agnisakshi - Again I do not endorse abuse nor like the character but Nana Patekar made the film what it is because of his acting and one liners. No one does eccentric roles better than him.

Parinda - That film is nothing without Jackie and Nana. I never bothered about good guy played by Anil. Jackie's complicated past, dilemma were interesting to watch and Nana was brilliant as eccentric villain.

Karz - Simi is gorgeous and Prem Nath is probably the most unique villain with his act as a mute person who clinks glasses to convey his message to henchmen.

Gupt - I do not endorse murder or obsessive stalking, being posessive to point of madness but Kajol was brilliant in the film and showed real, desperate, helpless passion for man she loved. Almost makes you feel bad for how dangerous her obsession had become.

Khalnayak- It is a Sanjay Dutt show only. Brilliant as anti hero. Jackie was entirely overshadowed despite that Ram Ram jaap almost likening his character to gods. Sanjay's career best work before Vaastav and Munnabhai MBBS happened.

All villains of Dhoom series. They usually are hotter and have convincing back story of why they turned rogue.

All the disclaimers though 😆

None..I couldn't even root for the professor and his gang in money heist inspite of all the heroism they tried to show..

The only characters I ever rooted for in the show were Raquel when she was a cop and that old couple who refused to shelter the gang from cops saying they were wrong..wisdom of the old😊

They were robbers ..not Robinhoods. Addicted to crime

John in Dhoom 1, I was really rooting for him to get away (which he sort of did in an entirely different way).

Allergic to anti-heroes due to certain Karna.

The journey matters more for me than the destination.

The end never justify the means,...not in reel also.

That guy was an out an out villain. A sex assaulter and child sex trafficker, who somehow got labelled a lower caste hero in spite of being adopted by a brahmin-kshatriya intercaste Athiratha. People seem to conflate suta with shudra. They were not the same. Suta was a kshatriya subcaste. Worse, Karna has a good few pages of racist, sexist, casteist rant during the war that few seem to pay attention to.
