They didn't end up together until TVD ended. But then Caroline has a cross over episode to the spinoff The Originals where they have shown the comfort Klaus and Caroline feel with each other. I haven't watched it but people say that its beautiful

Also, right before this scene you will see one of the scenes showing why I ship Stelena- Katherine could fool Damon into believing that she is Elena and kissed him but Stefan loved Elena so much that Katherine couldn't fool him.
