Unpopular Opinion? But SOTY has aged well

I remember when I first watched Student of the Year , the hype for it was quite immense. Karan Johar launching 3 new leads in a full fledged film. The film has been criticized and roasted several times but in hindsight it's actually aged well. All 3 leads were given quality content and scenes to shine in and were provided with ample screen time. The story is kinda dumb along with the whole unrealistic competition angel but it's a guilty pleasure film for me and every time I see it on Tv, I can't help but watch a little bit. Compared to the new comers nowadays, these 3 did a decent job although Sid was quite wooden back then. Not to mention Varun and Sid looked amazing in the film. What are your guys thoughts?

SOTY 1 was much better than 2.

Even though it was unrealistic, it did have its moments. And every character had their own individual storylines and problems. Unlike 2, these backstories felt much more genuine.

And the soundtrack was fireee.

Karan Johar has that knack to bring certain richness and Beauty to every frame.It gets us hooked to the screen despite all the flaws.SOTY also was like that.Very very appealing visually.No idea about SOTY 2 though.

I recently tried to watch it after my new found love for Sid Mal. Alia was unbearable, boy!

I agree.

But the fact that the so-called sequel is of such abysmal quality, does help the original look better than it actually is.

The songs from the 1st one made it one of the better albums from 2000 on wards century

Boring film

Songs were nice

Alia cannot cry still. I wished kjo was not so blatantly supporting nepotism

Sid has improved in Shershaah

Varun is good if he selects good roles

She tried (keyword: tried..but failed) to act like Poo in K3G which made me appreciate Kareena's acting a lot in that movie.

We were in college when this movie first part released .. we were constantly trashing and cracking jokes 😂
