The painful yet worthwhile Journey

She woke up with a jolt. A sudden sharp pain in her lower abdomen and she couldn’t even breathe for a minute. She wanted get up from bed to go toilet. But alas, she was feeling giddy.

She checked the time. It was 3am in morning. She didn’t want to wake up him but badly wanted use bathroom. So with no option left she called raghav for help.

Her second attempt to call him was a bit loud with the sharp pain hitting her again. Raghav woke up suddenly and found his pallavi in pain. Worried he asked her

“What happened? U r not okay! Where is it paining?” He thought he she was having her periods which he knows is usually is severely painful for her sometimes.

Past almost 2 years with her, he has seen her struggling even to stand properly on her first days. Although he had asked her consult doctor, she has always refused saying it was normal for her, moreover she always had regular menses.

He tried lay her down and bring the hot water bag as usual but she held on to him tight. “Raghav I’m not on my periods. Remember a while ago we just ….Just help me go wash room please” she was struggling as the pain was on and off.

Raghav stood of from bed, went the other side and scooped her in his arms. Took her to washroom meanwhile she looked at him lovingly “raghav I’m fine, it’s just I was feeling giddy and badly needed pee else I wo..”

“u wouldn’t wake me up” he completed. He helped sit in toilet seat. Upon her several requests for him to go out, he waited out as she knew something was definitely wrong as the pain wasn’t normal.

He was sitting at the corner of the bed closer to washroom waiting for her. When she opened the door, raghav ran to help her. But a dejected looked on her face, he knew something was wrong and before he could ask.

“Raghav take me to a doctor please.. I think…. I’m havi….ng…… a….” She couldn’t complete and fainted in his arms.

“Pallavi..” he took her in arms and brought her to bed only to find her side of bed with blood stains on bedsheet. He kept her on other side. Tried to wake her up calling her, sprinkling water on her face, he ran outside to banged on ammas door. “Amma. Amma please open the door. help me. Mera pallavi ….” the amount of blood stains in bed had scared him.

Amma woke up with a jolt and open the door to find raghav pacing around outside Amma’s room trying to call Farhad.

Farhad picked up call on second attempt and all he heard was “tera bhabi mar rahaa aur tuje sone ki padi hai”

“Raghav kya huvaa” amma asked concerned what she heard.

Raghav forgetting to end the call, explained amma what happened while almost dragging her to their room. Meanwhile Farhad changed clothes to reach his brother in need as soon as possible.

When amma saw the blood stained bed, she immediately asked to raghav to cancel the doctor he had called home and take pallavi hospital immediately. She was scared to tell raghav what she was assuming hence told him this might be serious considering her painful monthly periods which amma also knew about.

Welcome to the forum, and yes, please continue! Poor Pallavi and poor Raghav. My guess is that she suffered a spontaneous abortion and he didn't even know that she was pregnant, it seems. Do they want a baby?

Thank you waiting for me to come-up with second part. And Yess, I hope to continue this story as far as I can . So without a further delay here comes

Part 2

Pallavi was taken into observation, as soon as she was taken into hospital. Raghav had informed the hospital about the situation before their arrival hence they had made all the arrangements.

Amma was scared thinking about what was coming. The bleeding she saw on car seats when they brought pallavi in their car without waiting for ambulance as it might delay the treatment, got amma’s doubts more clear. She came and sat beside raghav who was on the verge of breakdown after what he saw. She placed her hand on his hand that was on his knee which was constantly stomping on floor. One look at his amma and he lost it. He hugged her tight and cried on her shoulders. Amma let him cry. Honestly, even though she might be right about what had happened she wasn’t sure how it did and what could be consequences considering pallavi’s period pains. She wasn’t sure whether it would be right to discuss this to him but after thinking for a while she decided get him prepared as in what if her doubts are confirmed, it be difficult to handle Pallavi.

He had all sorts of scary scenarios running in mind, not letting him calm with the fear of anything happening to his pallavi. Amma saw her little boy ‘s dejected face when she pulled him from the hug. Her heart ached for her son. He has been through so much at such young age, for which partly she considers herself responsible as she wasn’t there when he needed her, the most. She wasn’t going to do that again. She is going to be there for her children always. For all her 3 children; Raghav, Kirti and Pallavi.

She held his face in her palms, looked straight into his eyes demanding him to listen carefully.

Amma: Pallavi ko iss waqt tumari bohot zarurtah hai. This is not going be easy. So listen to me very carefully.

Raghav: math……. He had his eyebrows knotted as to what his amma is talking.

Amma: Mereko sure nehi hai whether I’m right. I hope ki aisakuch na ho. Par muje aisa lagta hai pallavi ka miscarriage huvaahai.

Raghav: what? No amma. Aisa nehi hai who pregnant nehi tha?

His words were lost somewhere as he realized what amma said. Pallavi had mentioned that she was late 2 weeks and they even tested which came negative.

Raghav: ya phir who test galat tha?

His mind travelled back to a possibility. Amma looked him, trying to understand what he meant.

Raghav: amma humne test kiya tha. A week ago shaayad. But who negative tha. Phir aisa kaisa?

With the revelation amma had her doubts confirmed. She held his hands firmly.

Amma: Kabhi Kabhi aisa hota hai ki bohot early main humko patha nehichalta ya Kabhi result nehi dhikta ya false result aata hai. Yaphir ho sakta hai koi issue ho jiske kaaran pathaa naa chale.

He looked her with “ but aisa kaisa” face which she read is seconds.

Amma: dhek tereko patha hai pallavi ko kitna pain hota hai, haina? ho sakta hai kuch problem ho jiske kaaran patha nehi results nehi dhika? Ya phir aisa hota hai bohot early mein pathanaa chaley. Isme koi problem nehi hai.

She silently sent a prayer for her daughter to be fine.

Raghav: aisa kaisa problem nehi hai. Ek baby…. He tried to jerk her hand not understanding why she was talking such.

Amma had feared for this. Amma pulled him closer.

Amma: Dhek main aisa isliye bola isliye kyuki it is a possibility. I want you be ready for what’s coming. Agar aisa baat hai. Imagine pallavi kya haal hoga. Aise time mein ladki log apni aapko ko blame karti hai. Aur upar se itna dard hota physically. Tumne dheka na kitna khoon baha uska, usko bohot dard hoga. Abhi usko patha bhi nehi, imagine tuje itna bura lag raha, who toh uski body ka part tha na.

He looked at amma and then turned to look at Farhad who all the while was standing beside them, silently praying for his bhabhi. Things were sinking in raghav’s head slowly.

Right at the moment, doctor along with a nurse came out of observation after a thorough examination of their patient.

Doctor: We have analysed the situation and Mrs Rao is stable now. However, hume aaplogo ko kuch samjaana hai. Could we please speak to you Mr.Raqhav.Sister, please guide him to my room. I will be back in 2 minutes.

Doctor left leaving the trio curious.

Nurse: Sir, this way please.

Raghav looked at her as if asking, if his Pallavi was really okay?

Nurse: Sir. Aapki wife abhi stable hai. Unko hoash aane mein toda time lagega. Tab aap unse mil sakte hai. But use pehele, aap sabko doctor kuch samjaana chaahate hai

They reached to doctors cabin. Raghav and Amma went in while

Farhad: Anna mein yehi bahar wait kar rahi hoon . although he considers them family, he wanted to respects his boss’s privacy.

Raghav: Haan. He sounded weak. He wanted to see his pallavi and hug her, comfort her. After what amma had said and calculating the possibilities of such scenario he was scared how pallavi would take in the situation.
