I think the makers are trying to show Imlie as someone taking the ‘high road’ in this situation. The high road here could be something else, but they’re determined to play it this way to show Imlie becoming a second mother to the child. 😕 They’re failing to understand that the audience is far too realistic and practical to accept or get hooked on to this angle. 😕
I know this is fiction, but in my mind, Imlie still wanting to live with Adi and fighting for their marriage is already quite giving & shows enough of her maturity in these circumstances. There is no need to make her more mahaan, since really she’s the one who’s being benevolent to her partner here. If they really want to show her even more evolved, they should do the opposite and show Imlie creating clear boundaries among the three of them & insisting all of them respect it for the sake of her marriage and the child.
This might be expecting too much from ITV, I guess
