Television actress Ruhanika Dhawan, widely loved for playing Roohi in Yeh Hain Mohabbatein, recently shared a disturbing personal experience involving a taxi ride, raising serious concerns about passenger safety. Taking to social media, Ruhanika posted screenshots and a detailed note describing what she called a frightening encounter with a cab driver while she was returning home from college. Her post quickly drew attention, with many expressing shock and support.
A Routine Ride Turns Disturbing
In her caption, she wrote: 'Had a really disturbing experience with Uber India yesterday.” She went on to explain that she was travelling on a route she uses regularly and knows well. However, the driver allegedly took a detour that was 'completely not in the direction of my house,” even though the GPS clearly showed the correct route. According to her, despite giving the driver the right directions multiple times, he refused to listen and kept arguing.
Fear, Refusal to Stop, and Abusive Language
Ruhanika further revealed that the situation escalated when she told the driver she felt unsafe and asked him to stop the car. She stated that he did not stop immediately. She also claimed that toward the end of the ride, the driver began using foul and abusive language. She shared that it was only after she raised her voice that he finally stopped the vehicle, forcing her to get down before reaching her destination. She then had to take the metro back home.

As a female student, this was extremely unsafe and unacceptable. Women deserve to feel safe in cabs — especially when we rely on them every day

Complaint Filed, Safety Concerns Raised
In another part of her post, she described filing a complaint and providing details about the incident. She wrote that the driver “purposely took a detour” despite having maps open and directions being given. She added that as a female traveler and a student, she felt extremely unsafe and was alone. "As a female student, this was extremely unsafe and unacceptable. Women deserve to feel safe in cabs — especially when we rely on them every day.”
Her account has sparked online conversations about ride safety, driver accountability, and the need for stricter oversight to ensure passengers — especially women — feel secure while using cab services.
