Kajol undesirable?

Kajol is beautiful, sensible young woman! Perfect bong girl yet Arjun thinks no one will fall for her. Arjun’s family think no one will marry her. Her own mother thinks she will remain single forever.. Her sister thinks she will never be able to find someone

Why are they showing her as undesirable woman? In reality anyone would fall for her

Well its a good thing we have top class viewers who agree with you; at least I do😃

I missed the 1st 10 episodes so I dont know if Kajol had a degree or was doing any work or how old her character is.

All I know is that she may be naive but it takes guts to take right action when you realise something is wrong, it takes guts to go out and work in the business world if you have never had a job before and it takes guts to repay a loan you did not realise has been at a cost of life & home & family business & look after 4 siblings and extended family

(And in real life I know of women who have had to do just that)

So I too am baffled why Arjuns familyn & Nania and Chandana her own mother think otherwise

yeah, I'm so mad at how the show acts like she's not attractive esp. when she's hella attractive- she looks amazing without trying plus is a super talented musician, like others in the show hardly stand a chance against her?!

Kajol is supposed to be an average, 28-year-old girl. I remember in one of the initial episodes, she even had a dialog saying 'I have no illusions about my own looks, I know I am avg.'

So she is average. But in ITV serial world, they need a beautiful actress to play the FL or no one will watch the show. Very few ITV shows use dark-skinned girls as leads, and nowadays, looking at the casts, they are getting fairer and fairer

As a side note, I had the same gripe about Mission Mangal movie. The actual ISRO scientist ladies that worked on the project were average-looking women with wheatish-brown complexions. The movie was entirely whitewashed, with Sonakshi, Vidya Balan, and other pretty actresses (all fair-skinned) playing the leads. It was such a letdown for me being a dark-skinned girl myself 🤔.

I agree for example in Shaadi Mubarak they had changed the lead to a fairer actress. And dusky heroines get to play only limited type of roles where they are depicted as sex symbols like Bipasha Basu or Mallika Sherawat or the story is of dusky girl. Rajshree Thakur original Preeti of Shaadi Mubarak got her first role in Saat Phere as Saloni because it was a story about a dusky girl facing issues about marriage. And nowadays they are doing the Indian version of the blackface as well where they would apply pigmentation on the face of a light skinned heroine to make her look dark like they did in Laagi tujhse lagan where the heroine played by Mahi Vij would darken her face as she was too pretty and would be attacked by goons of the area so to protect her, her mother made darken her face as dusky girls are unattractive and therefore safe. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄😡😡😡😡😡😡

I remember Laagi Tuzse Lagan, such a horrible concept, but it was saved by Mishal Raheja's Datta Bhau.

Parul Chauhan and Rajashree Thakur are such talented and beautiful actresses, but they were shortchanged due to their complexion. There was another serial on colors recently about a dark girl and her fair cousin. The girl gets rejected and bashed by the groom's mum because of her complexion. Luckily covid caught up and it died its natural death, but it was shocking to see such regressive content shown on national TV.
