You might be able to get a divorce. But escaping your abuser is so much harder than that.

You might begin to find your voice & grow a spine. But your abuser will still know how to press your buttons.

You might teach others the importance of self respect. But your abuser will still know how to make you abandon yours.

I know watching Anu not distance herself from Shah's is frustrating from an entertainment PoV. But that's how frustrating escaping abuse is. As Anuj said, bediyaan khud todni padhti hain. And breaking them takes constant hammering. For the lucky ones, they might break open at the first swing. But for most, they have to keep swinging till their feet (read: value system) are bruised & battered. With Anuj swinging the hammer on her shackles tonight, I hope Anu finds the courage to finally bruise her feet and break free.

A S/O to the cast & crew for accurately portraying the emotional journey of escaping abuse.

I saw this post and I have to say that you have put everything across in a great way.

Anupamaa was manipulated by the Shahs for 26 years. She was made to believe that she is worthless. When one goes through abuse daily, he or she starts to think that this is what is supposed to happen to him or her. Hell, one even starts to sympathize with his or her abuser. She can't escape this abuse easily.

For viewers, it's easy to claim that she needs to move out but her confidence has been shredded to pieces by the Shahs.

However, She has amazing support system also so I am very sure that he would take baby steps towars her freedom.

I just hope makers do justice to Anupamaa's empowerment journey.

The environment that makes u sick can never revive there ...even doctors suggest to go places for change ...u r right it takes a lot of time to heal for a victim but nobody stays in the place of abuse to heal...it's not possible....and post divorce nobody stays in law's home ....the place itself has marks of the abusive journey one has faced....kya bhulna asaan hai ?...ghar ki woh chaukhat dekhna jiss se bahar nikala gaya tha...woh dinning area jaha jabradasti cake thusaya gaya tha ..uss kamre ka woh bistar jo bewafai ki nishani thi ...no naa....so no they r not actually portraying it perfectly ....

Exactly! Jis jagah par itna abuse saha ho ussi jagah par ussi abusive logo ke sath reh kar koi kaise heal ho sakta hai !

TRP ke liye chidiya ghar ke jaise sab ko same house mai bhar kar rakkha hai ! Storyline is utter nonsense and unrealistic!

LOL dude I specifically said emotional. Even getting a job at an international school due to a fare stall, owning a successful dance institute this soon, getting a partnership in a 5-star hotel just based off a pitch, having a guy like Anuj simp after you even after 26 years is HELLA unrealistic. Even more than living with in-laws after divorce. Which is why I said, again, EMOTIONAL.

May be read properly before ranting 🤡

The header is the correct way to describe Anupama’s situation
