Part 1 & 2
that was a fabulous start. headmistress had been mean, no warning, no sympathy and Geet left out alone in the night. I loved the rainy ambience indicating the storm on its way, and it indeed came Geet's way, she witnessed some murder..Maan as the killer? his business attire in contrast to his actions..he could have ruthlessly murdered the witness in an instant, instead he asked her the questions..what is the mystery about the murder.
Soothing and relaxing date for maaneet…
Chapter 18
Warm , Beautiful and Admiration Filled
Maan and Geet's first Date on his Yacht
I think Geet is too nervous to continue a conversation
about herself and Maan
so its easier to speak about Monty , Asha and Neil
and what a way to introduce the fact that she is interested in working
in the legal field just to help helpless women
though Maan feels there is no need for Geet to work , as he owns a lot
and have wealth
but I think Geet been her own person would love this job and this is what
Maan sees in Geet , she is a person that easily cares about others
he does admire her
I loved that Maan tells Geet she never have to think about home because home is
where is his
and wow he is confident that he and Geet can have a good relationship
wow the romantic gangster eh!!! ofcourse he was forced into this kinda but still...they are moving so quickly right...how fast he fell for her...and geet too...hmm
glad geet told him about applying for the job ....he is once again impressed with her...
wish they also talk about why she was thrown out of the hostel...
Such a heartwarming date of Maan and Geet! Loved the moment he hugged her when she got emotional and vulnerable 🤗
Maan’s let his guard down and obviously Geet wouldn’t hurt him ❤️
Just hoping that there’s no harm coming their way!
Lovely update dear
Maan and geet both are comfortable with each other

Hello all! Thank you so much for your lovely feedback on Chapter 18! The next chapter is below!
Chapter 19
Later that night, Geet snuggled under her luxurious duvet and imagined still being in Maan’s arms. The two had spent a few more hours on the yacht, feeding each other bread, cheese, and strawberries, until the captain finally docked. As giddy as Geet felt about the night, there was still part of her that refused to believe all of this was real. Was there a catch?
Geet drifted off to sleep eventually and dreamt of Rocky, who had perished in childhood after a rabid animal had bitten him in the woods.
In the dream, Rocky, who Geet hadn’t seen since he was eleven and she was nine, was walking by a stream of water. Geet vaguely remembered that this was the creek by their family home. Rocky was still frozen as an eleven-year-old in the dream.
“Hurry up, slowpoke!” Rocky called, laughing.
“I’m coming!” Geet cried. She chased after him.
Rocky stopped to sit down on a large rock. “My sister has fallen in love,” he said dramatically.
“I -- I’m not so sure about all that,” Geet stammered.
“What’s the problem?” Rocky asked, skipping a pebble over the water.
“Things are moving so fast, and I . . . I don’t know if I can fully trust Maan.”
“Has he done something to make you not trust him?”
This definitely had to be a dream. Eleven-year-old boys didn’t ask adult questions like that.
“Well, he *is* a gangster.”
“I know that, but has he done anything specific that would make you lose his trust?” Rocky asked reasonably.
Geet dug a hole in the dirt with her shoe. “No. He has actually been quite wonderful to me.” She thought about the shelter, clothes, food, books, and protection Maan had provided -- not to mention the beautiful outing on the yacht that Maan had arranged.
“Then what are you so worried about?”
“What if things don’t work out?” Geet asked desperately. “There are so many things stacked against a potential relationship. He’s a gang leader, and his ex-fiancee’s father --”
“Looks like you’re just finding excuses,” Rocky said, hopping off the rock. “My dear sister. You have never allowed yourself to get close to anyone. I worry about you, you know.”
Tears pricked at Geet’s eyes. “I miss you. All the time.”
“I know,” Rocky said softly. “I miss you, too. Now, listen to your brother. Give love a chance, why don’t you?”
Geet woke up with a start. How incredible it was to see her deceased brother again, even if it was just while dreaming. And despite all of the illogical aspects of the dream, like a child advising to “give love a chance,” Geet still found courage from it.
Maybe the dream was a sign for her to accept Maan’s feelings for her? Accept her *own* feelings? Because the truth was, there was no question that Geet was falling for Maan. Hard.
---
Excitement bubbled within Geet for the entire morning and afternoon. She had finally relaxed her nerves and decided to forge ahead with Maan, wherever it would take her. Maan was tied up in meetings with Adi all day, and Geet suddenly couldn’t wait until dinner to see Maan and soak up his obvious affection for her. Maybe she would even tell him her dream about Rocky.
After Neil came over after school, Geet took him to the public library where a librarian would be holding a story time. “Ooh, the librarian will be reading a book about dinosaurs!” Geet exclaimed when they walked into the children’s area. Geet was almost positive that the librarian would be able to pronounce those complex dinosaur names much better than Geet could. “Aren’t you excited?”
“Mmm-hmm,” said Neil distractedly. He looked down at his sneakers.
Geet gently pulled him aside to a shelf featuring children’s books about winter, which was approaching soon. “Everything okay?”
“Those mean brothers at my school were teasing me again today,” Neil said quietly, squeezing his eyes shut behind his glasses. “They keep saying my mama doesn’t love me, but I know she does, Miss Geet. She told me so many times when we got to visit her. When can we go back? I will give all the money in my piggy bank to see her again.”
“I’ll talk to your Uncle Maan again, sweetie,” said Geet, giving him a hug as her heart sank. She watched as children began to gather on a large mat shaped like a cartoon lion. They were all giggling with childlike enthusiasm, excited to be told a story. She wished deeply that Neil didn’t have such grown-up worries.
---
Later that evening, Geet was sitting on a bench in the foyer with a book while she awaited for Maan to come home from his day of meetings with Adi. She practically ached to see Maan -- not only to talk to him about the scene at the library with Neil, but to simply enjoy Maan’s company. Geet looked down at the book in her hands, one of the many that Maan had purchased for her. Yes, Geet was more than ready to put Rocky’s advice into action and allow herself to get close to Maan.
Geet was so eager for Maan’s arrival that she couldn’t pay attention to the memoir in her hands and kept re-reading the same paragraph. When Geet heard a car door open and close outside, she jumped up from her seat and eagerly rushed to the front door. When she swung the door open, Geet was surprised to see Pinky -- not Maan -- walking up the front path toward her.
“Geet,” Pinky said, her forehead creased with worry.
“Pinky?” Geet opened the door wider. “What’s wrong?” Why did Pinky look so anxious? Immediately, Geet’s mind jumped to Sameera and her father -- did they hurt Maan, as Geet had been worried about practically every moment of the day?
Pinky stepped over the threshold of the entrance, closed the front door, and hugged Geet. “I’m so sorry, Geet.”
“What happened?” Geet’s voice was shrill. “Is Maan okay?”
“Maan? Yes, he’s fine,” said Pinky, leading Geet into the sitting room. “I just -- I’m so sorry, I had no idea about your brother, Rocky. I didn’t know about it until just now, and you’ve never mentioned it. Otherwise I would have come over much sooner to lend my support.”
Relief surged through Geet at hearing that Maan was safe. Then Pinky’s words caught up to her. Geet sat on the couch as she tried to process what Pinky had said. How and why was Pinky bringing Rocky up, when Geet had never mentioned him? It was especially eerie since Geet had just dreamt about her deceased brother the night before.
“Um . . . what about Rocky?” asked Geet.
Pinky’s face suddenly paled and she stood up abruptly. “Oh my gosh. I’m so sorry. I thought -- I thought Maan had told you.”
“Told me what?”
“I’m so sorry,” Pinky repeated, and turned to go.
“Pinky.” Geet grabbed for the woman’s wrist. “Please tell me what’s going on. What do my brother and Maan have to do with each other?” When Pinky was silent, Geet pleaded again, “I’m begging you.” Geet felt herself shaking from the unbearable suspense.
Apparently swayed by Geet’s distress, Pinky lowered herself slowly onto the couch. “Maan Sir and Adi are in Adi’s study today for back-to-back meetings, and I overheard them talking. They’re still in the study, which is why I rushed over now.”
“What did you overhear?”
“Maan Sir was telling Adi that he had run a background check on you,” said Pinky, wringing her hands in her lap. “And then they began talking about your brother, Rocky.”
“What did they say about Rocky?” Geet pressed.
Pinky closed her eyes. “Geet, I really think you should talk to Maan about this,” she whispered.
“Pinky, please just tell me,” Geet said desperately, clasping her hands together. “Imagine yourself in my shoes? If whatever this is about concerned *your* brother, wouldn’t you want to know?”
The look of sympathy on Pinky’s face only made Geet more nervous. “Okay. Geet, that night in the alley when you first met Maan . . . .” Pinky’s voice trailed off.
Geet’s heart suddenly seized. Why was Pinky suddenly bringing up *that* night? She could practically still taste the metallic tang of the blood that had spread across the ground. The blood of that poor man, whoever he was.
Pinky exhaled loudly. “The man who died in the alley that night was your brother, Rocky.”

Thank you for reading this chapter. :)
Shocking update. Geet brother was alive but died the day Geet met Maan in the alley which was what Geet saw and did not recognize him.
