Part 10
Vir was absolutely furious! How dare Veer speak to him like that and speak of Bawri like that. It was bad enough what happened at the previous night's party but now the press were making it worse. Truthfully, he didn't care about his reputation. What bothered him was the way they tainted his Bawri. If everyone knew the truth, him being in a room with her was not a sensational story like the press printed. However, other than in Rewari, for the world, Bawri was Daksh' fiancee. The press made it look like she was having an affair with him, her own husband! I hope she's okay. Vir retrieved his phone and placed a call to Bawri but she didn't answer. He tried a few more times and again, the phone just kept ringing but she didn't answer. Is she ignoring my calls on purpose? How do I speak to her if she won't answer?

Salon
Dhwani was not going to lie. She was having a great time at the salon with Chandni Di. At first she was unsure whether to come with Di but now that she was here, getting her hair and nails done. She was glad she came. It felt so great to have someone do her hair for her, because the feel of someone's hands on one's hair was like having a massage. Especially after the headache that lingered from last night but she didn’t want to think about that.
After her hair had been clipped, washed and straightened. Dhwani started getting her nails done. While her nails were being cut, her phone started ringing on the table next to her. She quickly hovered over her phone to see who was calling. She was waiting on a call from Daksh to say that everything was fine from the previous night. However the caller was someone else, Mukhiji. Dhwani ignored the call. She couldn't handle speaking to Mukhiji now. She was so embarrassed after last night and God knows what else she said and did in front of him. The phone started ringing again, this time Dhwani asked for one moment from the manicurist, to then put her phone on silent. Chandni asked who was calling her that she was ignoring. Dhwani replied that it was just a telemarketing call and she wasn't going to bother picking up. Dhwani went back to her manicure not seeing the remaining, several calls being made by Mukhiji.
As Chandni and Dhwani made their way out of the salon. Dhwani picked up her phone and placed it in her bag without checking for any notifications. Chandni and Dhwani also got confronted by a reporter asking questions about Dhwani's affair with Mukhiji. They quickly rushed past without making any comments and got into their car.

Pratap Singh House
Vir was getting restless. Half the day had gone by and still no phone call was returned by Bawri. Awful thoughts went through his head, justifying why she wasn't answering his call. Even if she was ignoring him after last night, the least she could have done was message him to say that she was alright or acknowledge that she had seen his calls. How was he to check on her?
Vir decided to ask Sudha as she had swapped numbers with Bawri at the party last night. However when she tried, Bawri didn't pick up either. Out of options, Vir went for the last resort. Desperate times call for desperate measures. He called Chandni.
Chandni picked up Vir's phone call within one ring as soon as she realised her Chand had called. She asked him how he was after last night. Vir replied that he was fine. As he was thinking of an excuse to ask about Bawri, he heard Bawri's voice as she called for Chandni and to watch where she was going. Chandni wasn't paying attention to the road that she nearly got hit by a motorcyclist. Hearing Bawri's voice confirmed to Vir that she was okay. So he quickly looked to hang up but Chandni wasn't willing to let him go. Asking about his day. Vir eventually got fed up and stated he was getting another call and he needed to go. Vir could relax now, knowing Bawri was okay after the previous night.

Daksh' office
Daksh sat in his office. He was waiting for the media to arrive. He had decided to hold a press conference in relation to the previous night and the article from this morning. He needed to tackle the issue head on, otherwise the press would make Dhwani's life miserable and he didn't want that. Once Roshan informed that the media had arrived, he made his way to the conference room.
Daksh: Thank you all for attending this press conference on such short notice. We're here today to address the false accusations, yes false accusations made against my fiancee and my business partner, Mukhi Virendra Pratap Singh.
Journalist: You claim they are false accusations but the pictures are as clear as day. How can you deny what's in the picture? They clearly show you taking your fiancee out of the room in which Mukhi Virendra Pratap Singh was in.
Daksh: Yes, the picture in the papers is the truth. My fiancee, Dhwani was in a room with Mukhiji but that is only half the truth.
Journalist: What are you trying to say, say it clearly.
Daksh: The truth is Dhwani's drink got spiked so she went to rest. Mukhiji happened to help Dhwani get to the room, he was there looking after her and then he called me there. The picture of me holding Dhwani and taking her out is after Mukhiji called me to the room.
Journalist: How do we know what you're saying is the truth and you're not spinning another lie?
Daksh: If it was the truth, I would not still be engaged to Dhwani. As you all know, Daksh Singh Shekhawat does not deal in losses.
Journalist: What is your fiancee's relationship with Mukhiji? The article states that the two have been seen out together.
Daksh: Dhwani and Mukhiji are friends. Do friends not go out together? Just because they're a man and a woman does not mean they can't be friends.
Journalist: So is it not true that you left your own party early, in anger?
Daksh: Who said this? Yes it's true, I left my own party early but that was only because Dhwani wasn't feeling well. Wouldn't you do the same if it was your life partner?
The press started murmuring loudly as Daksh had an answer for every question they asked. Even if the article was telling the truth, Daksh had made it look like it was a pack of lies. This was his intention and he had succeeded.
Daksh: So there you have it. That's the truth. There is no scandalous affair. I trust my fiancee and I know she and Mukhiji are just friends. So I ask you, the press, to stop writing such articles or I will file a case of defamation against whoever makes such a disgusting allegation again. Now thank you for your time. Stay safe and have a good evening.
Daksh made his way out of the press conference whilst camera's were flashing at him. He had a smile on his face. He was relieved, he had managed to turn the situation around.

Chandni and Dhwani were sitting at a nice restaurant having their meal. They decided they would go out to eat after enjoying a nice day at the salon. Dhwani finally checked her phone and noticed the several missed calls from Mukhiji and one from Sudha. She didn't know what to do. Should she call Mukhiji? He must be concerned, why else would he call so many times? She decided to send him a quick message to state she was fine and he need not worry. Also if there was any other reason that he called. Soon enough she got a reply saying that he was just worried after the article. She just said to him, that Daksh will resolve it and to leave things for now.
As Chandni and Dhwani were enjoying their meal. They noticed Daksh on the TV screen in the restaurant. He held a press conference to counter the article that came out. Chandni Di, as soon as she saw the TV, stated to Dhwani that she was right. That Daksh would resolve this. Dhwani was elated. She didn't even let Chandni finish her food and rushed her out to go see Daksh at the office.

Daksh' Office
Daksh was out of the conference room. The press were still lingering but ready to leave. Just then Dhwani and Chandni walked into the office. Dhwani rushed to where Daksh was.
Dhwani: Thank you, for resolving this and again, I'm sorry for putting you in this position.
Daksh: You have nothing to apologise for. You're not to blame.
Dhwani: I know but thanks for believing in me and having trust in me.
Daksh: Dhwani, you always said we have trust in our relationship. You may not feel love for me yet but trust is also important.
Dhwani: I know. That's why marrying you is the right choice. No matter how I feel for Mukhiji. I also wanted to say, from now on, I'll keep a distance from Mukhiji. I don't want anything to affect our relationship and your reputation.
Daksh: Our reputation.
Dhwani: Yes, exactly. I'll stay away from Mukhiji.
Daksh: You don't need to do that. I told you I trust you. Just don't get stuck in a room with him again, otherwise you'll have not just me but Di after you as well. He joked.
Chandni: Yes definitely.
Dhwani: Umm Daksh. Do you want to go for a coffee now? I feel like we haven't spent any time together lately.
Daksh: Yes, I'm free now. Even if I wasn't, I'd leave everything and go with you.
Dhwani: Thanks again Daksh.
Dhwani leaned in to hug Daksh. As she hugged Daksh and placed her head on his shoulder, she noticed Mukhiji watching her from just a few feet away.

Pratap Singh House
Vir was sitting at home moping around after Bawri refused to answer his calls. He eventually received a text message to say that she was okay and not to worry as Daksh would handle it. How would Daksh handle it? He got angry at the fact that he couldn't even announce to the world that she was his wife and so them being in a room together was no big deal. While he was wondering what he could do to resolve this. He noticed that Daksh was on the TV. Vir turned the volume up as he watched how Daksh explained what happened last night. He managed to twist the situation in a way to make it look like the article wasn't true. Vir was impressed. Last night Daksh was just so angry but it looked like he had calmed down and come to realise that Bawri was not at fault.
Vir decided he should go to see Daksh and thank him. Vir didn't care about his reputation here in Delhi. If it was Rewari, he would have been livid but the main issue was his Bawri's reputation. Daksh had saved her reputation and for that, Daksh deserved his gratitude.
Vir made his way into Daksh' office. The press were still at Daksh' office and as soon as they noticed him, they came running over. They asked if whatever Daksh said was true and if he had anything further to add. If Vir wanted, he could have told the full truth about him and Bawri but exposing everything publicly wouldn't be the right way and Bawri would run further away from him. Vir confirmed to the media that what Daksh said was true and he was just helping Dhwani as a friend. Eventually he got sick of the same questions being asked and excused himself.
Vir was searching for Daksh in the crowd that was in the office. That's when he finally noticed Daksh, Dhwani and Chandni. The sight that he saw surprised him. Bawri had her head on Daksh' shoulder. She was hugging Daksh! The sight left him feeling upset and angry. He felt after yesterday, maybe they had turned a corner. Now he felt like they took two steps forward and then three steps backwards. He noticed Daksh was stroking Dhwani's hair. Why is he so touchy feely all the time? Vir was running out of patience. How much longer could he tolerate seeing his wife in the arms of another man? He didn't know.
Vir kept staring at the sight before him. Bawri noticed him looking at her and he made direct eye contact with her.

Mukhiji kept staring directly at Dhwani and she started to feel uncomfortable under his gaze. It made her feel like she was doing something wrong, when she wasn't. Daksh is her fiance. What happened last night was wrong. She should never have been in that room with Mukhiji. Dhwani eventually couldn't hold Mukhiji's gaze anymore and averted her eyes. She noticed from the corner of her eye that he was approaching them. As Mukhiji did so, she slowly let go of Daksh but she kept a hold of Daksh' hand.
Vir: Hello Daksh, Dhwani, Chandniji.
Daksh: Hello. What brings you to my office?
Vir: I watched your press conference and wanted to speak to you directly. To thank you.
Daksh: No need to say thanks. I did this all for Dhwani. Last night, it was neither of your faults. It was just the circumstances.
Vir: Still, thank you.
Daksh: You're welcome.
Vir: I also wanted to speak to you about the land deal.
Daksh: Can we fix a meeting and speak of this some other day. It's just, Dhwani wants to go for coffee with me now. We want to spend some time together before our official engagement party.
Vir: Oh, okay.
Daksh: I'll see you soon Mukhiji, okay?
Daksh just tapped his hands on Mukhiji's shoulder to bid goodbye. Vir watched as Daksh and Bawri walked hand in hand as they went out for coffee together. Vir felt like his heart was breaking all over again.

Pratap Singh House
Sudha approached Veer to ask him to apologise to Mukhiji because the way he spoke to him was out of line.
Sudha: Look, I know how you feel about last night and the article today hasn't made it any better. But that didn't give you a right to speak to Mukhiji like that.
Veer: I understand Baba feels helpless and he wants Purviji back but last night, he was out of line.
Sudha: You don't know how he's feeling. Seeing his wife with someone else, not remembering their past relationship. You don't know how hard it is to see someone you love, with someone else.(Sudha remembered seeing Veer with Priyasi) You may feel that he was out of line but that doesn't change the fact that he is your father and you shouldn't have raised your voice at him.
Veer: No I know. It's just that I got so angry! Sometimes I don't like the person he becomes when he's with Purviji.
Sudha was shocked.
Veer: I understand Purviji is Baba's wife and he loves her very much. He even left my mother for her. Sometimes, just for once I wish he would put me first.
Sudha: When has he not put you or the children first?
Veer: No he puts Juhi and Manas first but I feel I've always been left behind. Even Nandu got priority over me.
Sudha: Don't think like that. Mukhiji loves you.
Veer: I know he does but sometimes I feel selfish and I don't want Purviji back in our lives.
Sudha: But why?
Veer: I now know she was trying to stop my life from being ruined by Priyasi but she could have found other ways. Why did she need to place you at the mandap? After her supposed death, I had forgiven her but I can't forget. Seeing her brought all those feelings back to the surface. I also liked being the one Baba could rely on.
Sudha: So you don't want Purvi back?
Veer: No I'm not saying that. I've seen how Baba, Juhi and Manas are living. Baba was like a living corpse. I can't be selfish. If Purviji being back means their happiness, then I'm ready to let things go.
Sudha: I'm so sorry, Veer. I didn't realise you felt this way. I'm so sorry for my actions on our wedding day. If I could change things I would.
Sudha folded her hands in front of Veer but he stopped her.
Veer: It's okay Sudha. What's done is done. I'll apologise to Baba as soon as I get the chance.
Just then Vir walked in through the door of their house. Vir didn’t look too happy. Veer went towards him and gave him a hug. Veer started apologising to Vir, stating that he didn’t mean to raise his voice and that he matters the most to him. More than their reputation and more than that stupid article. Vir was upset due to seeing Daksh and Bawri together but watching Veer apologise and support him, improved his mood. Yes, Bawri was important but equally his children were too. He would need to go see Juhi and Manas soon as well because it had been a while since Vir saw them last. With these plans in mind, Vir tried to forget about Bawri for a while.

Sudha knew Mukhiji was upset. She could tell by his demeanor when he entered their house. At first she thought he was upset due to the argument he had with Veer in the morning but his mood was not any better after father and son resolved their differences. She tried to speak to Mukhiji but he just asked to be left alone and went into his bedroom. She asked him to have dinner but Mukhiji wasn't interested so Sudha arranged for his dinner to be sent to his room.
Sudha thought if this is Mukhiji's condition, then something must have happened with Purvi or she must be in a similar condition to Mukhiji. Concerned for her friend, Sudha decided to call Purvi. She rang her but at first she didn't pick up. Eventually when she did, Sudha could hardly speak to her as she seemed to be in a hurry to get her off the phone. Sudha asked if she was okay and Purvi replied that she was. Sudha wasn't so sure however so asked to meet up with Purvi. That's when Purvi replied that she can't right now as she's out for coffee with Daksh and that they're going out for dinner in the evening. Purvi probably realised that she sounded rude to Sudha so she stated that she would meet her some other day definitely for coffee. Sudha then ended the call to leave Purvi be.
That explained why Mukhiji would be upset. He probably saw Purvi and Daksh together. Now what could she do? She thought Mukhiji and Purvi were getting along fine. Now, after last night's incident they seemed to be even further apart now. Sudha prayed to Kanhaji that Purvi could get her memories back quickly so they could leave Delhi and get her away from Daksh.

Vir went into his room after speaking with Veer. He was relieved that Veer understood his feelings and would now support him in his quest to get Bawri back in his life.
Thinking of Bawri reminded him of seeing her hugging Daksh and holding his hand. Why did I go to Daksh' office? At least he wouldn't have seen them together. He was struggling to control himself. He didn't know how much longer he could wait. Sometimes he just wanted to tell Bawri the truth, consequences be damned! Now she was out with Daksh and he couldn't even do anything about it.
After a long time, today he was once again reminded of the consequences of his own actions. The hurtful words he said to Bawri which led her to leave the house in the first place. Why, why did I say all that? If he didn't, she would have been in his arms today and not in the arms of Daksh Singh Shekhawat. Sometimes he worried, what if Daksh got intimate with his Bawri and she allowed him too. The thought angered him. Then he realised, even if Bawri had lost her memories, her nature was still the same. She wouldn't allow Daksh to touch her if they weren't married yet. After all, she didn't let him come close despite being married before their ill fated second marriage was due to happen.
The more Vir thought about Daksh and Bawri, the more angry he got. There was a glass of water on the bedside table, along with the dinner left for him. He reached for the glass and threw it across the room where the mirror stood. The glass smashed to smithereens and the mirror was smashed as well. Vir felt a bit of satisfaction with the way the glass and mirror broke. So he threw his dinner plate across the floor as well. He then went to the mirror left standing and threw it to the floor. As he threw the mirror, the broken glass from it cut his hand but Vir didn't care. He couldn't think beyond his anger. Anger at Bawri, at Daksh and himself. The chairs on his left were next and then the table.
Whilst he was breaking things in his room. Veer and Sudha knocked on his door to ask if he was okay. He stated he was fine. They then kept insisting on the noise in his room and if he hurt himself. By this point he got angry and shouted that he was okay and to leave him alone. So Veer told Sudha to leave him alone for a while.
After he had destroyed everything in his room. He felt a little bit better but then tears started falling down Vir's eyes. He felt helpless. He broke down crying. Finally letting things go. He sat on the floor in the middle of the destroyed room, with blood on his hands. He begged God to send Bawri back in his life and he promised he would never hurt her again.

After Veer and Sudha went back to their bedroom. Sudha was still worried about Mukhiji. He clearly wasn't fine if he was breaking things in his room. She waited till the noise of breaking stopped and then waited a few more minutes. She then went towards Mukhiji's room again. She needed to check that he was okay and that he hadn't hurt himself.
Sudha knocked on Mukhiji's door but no one answered. She knocked again but no answer. She waited a while but eventually decided to leave. That's when the door opened. Mukhiji had bloodshot red eyes. Sudha could tell he had been crying.
Sudha: I just came to check if you were okay?
She noticed everything in the room had been destroyed. She noticed the blood on the floor and looked at Mukhiji to see where the blood may have come from. She realised it came from his hand.
Sudha: You're bleeding. Sudha tried to hold Mukhiji's hand but he moved it away.
Vir: It doesn't matter.
Sudha: Of course it matters. It might get infected. I'll go get the first aid kit.
Sudha went out and got the kit. She asked Mukhiji to come to the dining table so he could sit while she bandaged his hand. She didn't think it was safe to sit in Mukhiji's room as she could get injured and Mukhiji injured again. Sudha bandaged Mukhiji's hand and also advised him to sleep in the spare room while she arranged for the servants to clean up his room.
Sudha: I know you're probably angry about Purvi and Daksh. I called to check on her and I know she went out with Daksh. Is that why you were upset?
Vir: I don't want to discuss about Bawri. Thank you for bandaging my hand. Go to sleep. Goodnight.
Vir walked away, making his way to the spare room. Sudha knew that he was still upset but it looked like Mukhiji had calmed down. There was nothing further she could do at the moment.

Dhwani and Daksh had a good night. They first went for coffee and afterwards decided to have dinner together. Dhwani at one point received a call from Sudha to check up on her. It was sweet of Sudha to call but today, her priority was Daksh and their relationship. They spent time together for the first time in a long time. Previously they did so as friends but since they got engaged, they didn't spend any time together until today. Maybe that is why she felt attracted to Mukhiji, as he gave her time and attention which she wasn't getting from Daksh. Even if she acted on her feelings with Mukhiji, too many people would get hurt, including Chandni Di. Plus the age difference didn't make it practical. She was better off being with someone who loved her and would fight against the world for her, like today. Daksh is the perfect man for her.
After they finished having dinner, Daksh dropped her off at her apartment. As he came to her door, she thanked him again for everything and placed a kiss on his cheek. She bid him goodnight and went into her apartment.
Dhwani changed and brushed her teeth and was ready for bed. As she got into bed, she recalled seeing Mukhiji's face when she hugged Daksh. He looked sad but why would he be sad? She's just a friend for him. She thought it better not to dwell on such thoughts and to forget what she saw and closed her eyes to go to sleep.
As Dhwani went to sleep, she started getting flashes of being at the party again. Confessing how she feels for Mukhiji, her jealousy and how she sang and danced in front of him. Dhwani awoke with a start. She wasn't sure however if what she saw in her dream was true. Did she really act like that with Mukhiji? Was the dream I had the truth? Regardless if true or false, she didn't trust herself around Mukhiji any longer. She needed to stay away from the man. For the best of her and Daksh' relationship.
