Vanraj thinks he is the best and deserves what he perceives as best. He and his mom looked down on Anupama and insulted and undermined her at every step, Had babuji stepped in and nipped the atrocities at the outset, things would have been different. Mother, son, his present wife and toshu and pakhi thrive on emulating Baa and have no realisation of the extent to which they have broken Anupama.

When one is economically dependent on others and for 25 years when all that you receive is insult one begins to withdraw into a shell and stop expecting any appreciation from others. Anypamas kindness, magnanimity is taken for granted. When even simple pleasures are denied she had concluded she doesn't deserve anything.

You have put it so well. The Shah family excepting Samar and Bapuji had broken down Anupama’s self worth completely. Ba and Vanraj led the march and Toshu and Pakhi followed suit.
I hope Anupama does not deny herself this second chance at love and is able to put Ba, Vanraj and everyone else who is a hindrance squarely in their places.
