A film that people consider pathbreaking but you don't? - Page 2

I googled to find out what Bollywood audience even consider pathbreaking.

Deewar -- A big no from me.

Zindagi na milegi dobara-- absolutely love the movie but there was absolutely nothing new in it.

I understand DCH was cool, the music had a new sound to it. The story was handled beautifully and there was no over the top drama. I just don't know if I consider it pathbreaking. But it must be if others saw it as such and it started a new era.

A great movie in its own right, but it's not some path-breaking cinema as many new wave journos or fans claim.

But the thing DCH did changed the game, which led to countless numbers of urban looking movies, which is the reason BOI hates it so much🤣

Movies such as Sholay, DCH etc may be an absolute delight and novelty and ground breaking to us desis but they’re absolutely not to foreigners... IMDB reviews show how disappointed they’re after being highly recommended by Indian friends as greatest movies

I think they should be recommended typical BW masala movies or art movies to show that this is what BW is or used to be...

It also depends on what foreigners are looking for. Sholay is a typical Bollywood masala movie but it's copied from a lot of Hollywood films. A foreigner who has watched those films before would be unimpressed by Sholay.

Dil Chahta Hai won't impress Western people who are looking for something different while watching an Indian movie, which shows their culture.

On the other hand, a Tamil movie called Kandokondain Kandukondain has got many good reviews from non Indians on IMDB
